Punxsutawney Phil has predicted . . . six more weeks of winter!

groundhog

Yep, you heard it right Punxsutawney Phil resident of Punxsutawney, PA, has seen his shadow on this fine Groundhog Day! Punxsutawney is about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. The ritual brought about 6,100 residents to a place called Gobbler’s Knob to witness the event.

It’s been reported that Punxsutawney Phil was still dressed in his Pittsburgh Steelers’ jersey from a Super Bowl party last night. This was to show his enthusiasm over the results last night.

Speaking of groundhogs I haven’t seen my own (I do have one in my backyard) but I am sure he is out and about eating and taking in a few rays since it’s a sunny day here in Denver, NC ~ Lake Norman; at least lets hope he does . . . he has six more weeks of winter!

Happy Groundhog Day!!

Teresa.. I know all too well about the Punxsutawney Phil celebration.  I've been celebrating this day all my life.. why?  It is also my birthday.  I am celebrating my 30th birthday (cough/gag) for the 20th time.  This is why I haven't been on AR lately... friends of mine have been treating me right!!!

I'm glad Phil saw his shadow.. I LOVE winter... but lets see if he is right.

Jane: Was your father from PA or somewhere close in the New England states?? I understand up in that area Groundhog Day is a huge celebration. It was like 28-30 degrees here this morning (the radio says one temp and my car says another) but it did warm-up some because the sun was out.

Teresa- They have groundhog day in Minnesota and it is a time when people talk about how much longer Winter will be. For people that live in Las Vegas, Nevada, we hardly have a Winter at all. By the time it gets cold, the hot weather is back.

Last weekend it was around 70-75 degrees, these type of temps in the Midwest are Spring & early Summer days. I hope it warms up for you soon Teresa and your blog is featured at: ACTIVERAIN GOSSIP

Robert: Thanks for coming by and THANK YOU for the feature! We had snow here last night and the kids were out of school today. This morning it was around 17 degrees and the high was around 32 degrees. It's 20 degrees now so I choose to believe that my backyard groundhog saw his shadow and so he's on target.

We are now experiencing some winter (at least for us) down in the south east.  Yesterday it did not get out of the 30's and for me... that's misery.  Today is supposed to get up to 48, for me, still BRRRRRRRR!.  But by Saturday we are going to see mid 60's with sunshine.  My sister in law in Minot ND says we don't even have winter.  That's why I live in the south.
