Over the last year, we have had more people requesting information about homes to rent than usual. Many want to buy, but are waiting for their home to sell in a difficult market elsewhere in the country. We have also had more sellers willing to rent their house while it is on the market or over the winter.

Instead of directing people to the local newspaper, we began posting rental opportunities on our daily in-house newsletter so we have specific information on homes for rent to offer those who need to rent in the near term. Having someone take their current needs seriously and provide assistance above and beyond the call of duty gives us a chance to build a relationship and become the person they contact when they are able to buy.

Thanks, Mike! Yes, several times. We have a sale pending right now where the people who inquired about renting ended up making a successful rent to own offer on one of our listings. The house is on a busy street so it wasn't selling quickly and the sellers needed some monthly income to cover their house payment after they moved out of state. It is scheduled to close this summer and we will get both sides of the commission!

Tabitha, thank you.  That is sound business in my opinion.  Somewhere down the road thoses renters do eventually become buyers.  Thanks again.  kevincavanaughonline.com

Rentals are a great way to grow your business and add people to your sphere of influence.  The statistics don't lie, 75% of renters eventually buy a home.  and, those 75% will need a realtor!!

Tabitha- Great idea. Discounting renters isn't always the best idea for business.
