Portland Oregon Music Millennium Is a City Icon

If you love music and live near the southern borders of Washington or near Portland Oregon..there is a store called Music Millennium and it has been a favorite browsing store for over 20 years for us. It is just the coolest place. Its a mixture of all the famous and not-so famous music and artists that you love so dearly. If you've never been there, you'll find their home page here.

The store often has famous artists come into the store for album signings and you can talk to them right up close. It also features a variety of funny or "antique" items that hail back to the rock-n-roll era. You'll recognize some of the toys we "boomers" played with as kids. And not just toys, but odd "statement or political" toys and objects too. My recent favorite item we bought was one of those hip shakin' hula dolls that go on your dashboard. We all need a reminder not to take life so seriously I think.

Maybe you've seen their bumper sticker: " Keep Portland Weird".  Here is a little more information from their website about that public announcement of theirs. I'm pasting it in from their webpage:

"What does the word weird mean?
Websters states "of strange or extraordinary character."
Weird in this case means unique

We are lucky to live in this great city of Portland! It's locally owned business's that help to keep Portland unique (or weird). It's important that the people in this city don't take it for granted. There is not another City in America like Portland. To Keep Portland this way, we must patronize and support local entrepreneus.

Keep Portland weird is a public awareness campaign to keep a balance of local business and national chain stores. Portland has always been a great enrepreneurial town and that is a major reason it stands our from many other cities around the country.

We invite you to join the cause to keep Portland unique (or as the sticker says, "WEIRD"). Support local business and help "KEEP PORTLAND WEIRD"!!!"

Check out their webpage to buy some GREAT music or visit their store. Here is a link to their business hours and driving directions to get there!! They stay open really late too!
