US News & World Reports recently released a list of the seven worst states to start a business. While I won't give away which seven states made the list, I will tell you this: Missouri was not one of them.

In fact, Missouri ranked #14 as a top state to start a business.
(You can read the full report by the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council here:
Small Business Survival Index 2008.)

Hi Debbie!  Missouri is a moving forward state, through out the state many positives are taking place where other states are not.  Our labor forces seem to be holding because of our job diversity.

Dona - I agree completely! We do have diversity and we have folks living in and moving to Missouri that want to be out side the box! They know we offer them more opportunities to be what they want to be - less regulations, lower taxes, the whole package!

Thanks Don for stopping by. I moved here from a Chicago suburb - and now own my own business. It's a great feeling and I wish I had even more opportunities to offer people!

Carole - I was excited to see Missouri on the list. We have St Louis and KC to ground us, but otherwise, Missouri is a rural state.

Margaret - I didn't think it appropriate to mention the "worst" states. :) And it does make one wonder!

Debbie:  WOW #14 for starting a place of business. That is great.  Hopefully you will start to see your commercial property start to move.  I bet there is many opportunities for people relocating to the area.  I read a post of yours about MO offering the First Time Home Buyer program.  Best of luck with the 2009 home selling and home buying season in Lebanon MO.
