COM'ON MAN

Ok guys...it is time to reclaim what is rightfully ours.

On February 9th I will turn 52 years old. Sometimes I think about that an I can't believe it. I don't feel 52 but how is 52 supposed to feel? Anyway, since becoming an adult and leaving home I have seen the roll of men change a great deal in that time frame. No ladies, I am not saying this did not need to happen. Please read on....baby changing tables in men's rooms, maternity wards now "family" orientated, and of course a change I still can't grasp Family Public Restrooms. It is ok for guys to go "chickflicks" without their male friends giving them a hard time. If you go to a professional sporting event you may see as many women as men and they sell sushi at this venues now. Men are characterized on television more involved in their children's lives and even in divorce courts men are awarding custody sometime. Lots of changes and frankly all for the best if you ask me. Michael Jordan made it ok for men to get a pedicure, get a manicure, overall improve our appearances. I have to say that over the 30+ years being a guy has been fun and eventful.

Through this growth process we have become too conforming. We have allowed almost all social barriers to come down. Heck admit guys, most of us even go to a different room in the house if everyone else wants to watch something other than Monday Night Football. Today however I saw something and I just had to say "Com'on Man".   What I saw was this...an older guy than me, driving a big white Tahoe (man car) and in South Carolina there are no front license plates. So, did he have a plate for the Gamecocks or the Clemson Tigers, SEC football, Golf, any thing manly and sporty. NO...he had an AIRBRUSH picture of his POODLE!!!! OMG!!!! COM'ON MAN....WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE??? Well, I have to admit one thing before I continue. My wife has a Sport Trac Explorer and I have a 300C. Yes it has a HEMI or I wouldn't have bought it. My wife does have the "truck" but I sold my Chev 2500 CrewCab Silverado Duramax Diesel for the HEMI car because it was time to downsize. Besides my wife has the little pickup...right. Well about a month ago she put a pink, yes I said pink, Crescent Moon/Palmetto Tree license plate on the front of her truck. For those of you who don't know this that is the state flag only the state flag is blue. I refused to drive it for three weeks and then last weekend I had to...couldn't be avoided...no choice. So I did and I did not like it. Guys, we have to stand our ground here. If our wives and girlfriends are going to do this to their cars...then we just can't drive them. We must take control of the plates and decals on the cars...after all...would our dad's drive around with Garfield stuck to the window like he is trying to get out...not no but hell no. In fact the only decal I ever remember my dad allowing was Wallace '68 but we have forgiven him and still love him.

So my pledge to you guys out there is this...we must band together...reclaim what is rightfully our, and take the plate off before we go out in our wife's car.

Kevin,

I really liked this.   It's refreshing to read some humor these days, that's for sure.  YOu have to remember, we gals like our trinkets, gadgets and bling....so I am gonna have to side with Melissa on this one...

but thanks for sharing I got a laugh out of this.

Gotta admit, I'm kinda with Melissa and Rebecca here.  About 10 years ago my liscence plate was my childhood nickname bestowed upon me by my dad : MYSHA1.  (The 1 was added because someone else already had MYSHA.  Go figure.)  My husband HATED driving my car, and was thrilled when it was finally sold and the plate was gone.
