FREE Photos and Graphics and Clip-Art Oh My...

Some of the best posts and blogs I have ever seen, stood out more because of the photos and graphics. Many of my posted photos are taken by me, but what about some of those awesome graphics and clipart you see in many blogs? Where do these people find these creative and post-related cool graphics?

Some photos and images are protected by copyright laws and SHOULD NEVER be used in your blog or on your website. However, there are many websites that also offer FREE graphics, photos, backgrounds and clipart.

Search google for a specific item, and then only select images, graphics and photos that are public domain and not copyright protected or stamped by an author, website, or company. Since we all have camera phones with digital cameras built in, and many of us do take our own photos, it would be nice to have a place on Active Rain that allowed members to contribute and access graphics and photos for their posts. Until then, there is plenty out there for you to choose from.

Here are just a few of those sites you might want to check out.

The Web Squeeze - 40 FREE Photo sites for Commercial use.
FreeFoto.com is made up of 117253 images with 151 sections organized into 3279 categories.
FREE Webpage Headers has hundreds to chose from. Very nice selection.
FREE Artistic Photos - Nice shots taken for you to use. Great selections here.
PDPhoto.org - Thousands of royalty free pictures here, more than you'll ever need.
FREE Logo Maker - This one is simply a snap!!
Imagechef.com , Custom Sign Generator and Glittermaker.com offer FREE and very cool stuff.

There are more than 1,000,000 free images, photos, graphics, clipart and backgrounds out on the web. They can be used on your websites, your blogs, your flyers, publications, and email etc. If you don't like any of them, or are looking for something custom, use your camera phone or digital, and go shoot your own.

I have written a few posts just based on a photo I had taken, or an idea that came from a particular graphic. If a picture tells a thousand stories, wouldn't you like access to a thousand pictures? Enjoy these sites and I wish you continued Blogging successes!!

The code that is located in between both sets of asteriks must be deleted from the code in order for you to load it on AR. Hope this helps :)

What I meant was I enjoy putting clip art or video or animations in my posts..but sometimes I feel there is too much. Not that I do not like it..I love it! But I prefer to keep it from being too much overkill.

I did save most of your links as well as the ones I already had....sometimes I feel there are more animations that take away from the actual content of my posts..but I still think it is cool. If you look at some you will see I just try to keep it conservative..but I think I will post something with all kinds of bells and whistles and make it a tribute to you! LOL!

I'm getting my boys into BMX this summer - they're great bike riders even at 4 and 6! We have our daughter due next Tuesday, so the BMX launch may be delayed...just think! An AR baby post!

Maribeth - these are some great sites to use for adding stuff to your websites and blogs. You will find a ton more by simply doing a Google search for similar sites! It will also prevent you from getting into "copyright" trouble using someone else' graphics and photos etc. Thanks for commenting.

Hi Brad -- By all means, stop by for that steaming mug of Kona "java" and a malasada a from Agnes'. Agnes' is a great little malasada shop in Kailua. They are pushing Leonard's hard and I mean hard, as they probably make the best malasadas on Oahu.

You probably ate at the Willow Tree! It is a fantastic little Korean restaurant with unbeatable food! I love to go there.

Guess we didn't win your business as we were not yet struggling to get a new franchise off the ground until June of 04, but now we are here and running HARD! I think you will love our office! Here is a photo of our storefront just for the fun of it.

Brad, Zippy's???? Man, that is one of the best places on the island for a great meal. Sam and I go there pretty often. Well, there are better places I guess, but considering coffee shop food, Zippy's is top drawer.

Vicki - I like to use my own photos too, but sometimes you might just need that perfect little graphic or animated gif to pull the post together. I like to use a combination of graphics and photos, mix it up a bit! :-) I also like when they are free and no one comes back to try and have recourse against you and your blog.

Hey Jerry - Zippys is good and the bakery there is the Bomb! If you ever get over to Maui, you have to take Sam to Mama's Fish House. That is our favorite in all the islands. The food, the ambiance, the atmosphere, it's all good.

It is great having these chats my friend, you are no longer just a commenter on my blog posts, you are now Ohana! Aloha my friend!! :-)

I use Microsoft Clip Art which is free but need to explore some others. I've gone to sites that say they are free but once you look around they have very few "free" things and they are wanting you to pay for the others.

Michael, you just have to click through to the ones you like, I clicked on FREE Clipart and came up with a couple here. ClipArt>>>> Not sure if you're settings have you blocking the sites or why you're not able to get these images. I had no problem. Try the link, see if it works for you. Let me know... :-)

Brad - Been wanting to add photos to my blogs, so I'm glad I found this post. Should have known you wrote one on this very topic. Thanks for the sites. I had asked a few rainer's in a blog post where everyone went to get free images and I mostly got royalty free sites that still charged for each image downloaded. Debra - thank you. If you Google Search "FREE GRAPHICS" or photos or images, you will find a ton of sites that have more FREE stuff than you could use even if you Blogged 24 hours a day! I'm not kidding, there is so much cool free stuff out there for the Real Estate Industry, and it just keeps changing and getting better everyday. Always remember, if you want to find it, Google is your best friend on the Web...next to me of course!! :-) Thanks again Debra.

I'm always nervous about using these graphics because even though it says they are free when you look into their policies it says you can't use them for a "for profit" site...and isn't my blog a way I'm trying to make a profit? the one I was looking at specifically was gif.com

Krista - it's always good to review each sites copyright rules and regs. They do change from time to time and since this post was written over 18 months ago, I'd say that's a good call on anyones part who visits any site that says their graphics and images are FREE.

There are some really great sites out there and they are FREE but they usually want a link back and or attribution if you use any of their stuff. :-)
