New Restaurant:  Soon to be opened, Little Gretel, where the former El Rio & the Argentine restaurant were once located on River Road.  Let's hope this one has a better track record.  Nothing on it's web site www.littlegretel.com yet but Craig's List shows they were looking for a Czech chef.  I know many of you have been looking for a German restaurant in the German town of Boerne.  I was hoping this would be it. We'll see.

Shop Closings:  Katmandu, a cute little gift & accessory store on Main St. is going out of business.  Too bad.  It's having some great sales, however.

The Word on The Street:  The city has received $18 million from Esperanza to upgrade their sewer system.  This is $18 million the citizens of Boerne will not have to pay for a badly needed, larger capacity system. That is $2250 per household.

The food was delishious and the staff was more than accomadating.

The decor is something to see. Very tastful!

I know this is the combination that will finally make this location a hit.

I can't wait until they open for dinner!

I had heard wonderful things about this restaurant; however this morning when I ate there; I was served rotten fruit, a microwaved waffle with kitchen debris on top ( cherry stems ?).

The orders took an unusually long time, probably due to the inexperienced waitstaff.

I will not return and will pass this info on to anyone who asks.

I eat at Little Gretels several times a week and have found it to be the best breakfast in south Texas. I was there yesterday when Mr. Rosenberg made an ass of himself in his desparate attempt to make himself feel important. His behavior showed no class and his protest so absured that it is assumed he has no taste. You sir are a void surrounded by a sphincter. If you would care to discuss this further, the men eating at the bar as well as other customers would be happy to. We will hold you to your promise not to show you face there again.

Dave and I have been to this restaurant weekly or more often since its grand opening!!  Finally a restaurant that serves the best breakfast in all of Boerne.  Their Blueberry pancakes are light and fluffy and almost disintegrate in your mouth.  The Eggs Benedict are light and delicious - I always have to debate between both of these breakfast dishes --  but then we order both and split between the two of us and that makes us both very happy!  I also want to say the environment is modern European and bright and sophisticated all at once.  We've been in great restaurants all over the world and this one rates right up there.  The outside seating is pet friendly so you'll normally see us out there sitting under the super LARGE umbrellas with our little Yorkie enjoying the creek view!

Thank you V-Ron for giving us this great venue!

L.G. is the best place in Boerne for breakfast. The dinners and lunch are great too. I love the clam chowder in the bread bowl. I prefer to eat the wonderful hand made waffles with the cream. Did someone really think those came from a micro? You gotta be kidding me man. It's all home-made right down to the sauces. The coffee is also super special. I've also had the crab cakes with poached egg - wonderful!! It's a good place to bring friends and family when they are in town. The vintage base ball team from Farmers Branch loved it. If it is a nice day, then sit outside. The inside decor is gorgeous. If you are by yourself sit up at the bar and chat with people, although I have sat outside and joined right in with others too. It's a very friendly place with awesome food. If anyone complains about this place, then there is something probably worng with them. I agree with Fred A, if this guy Eric Rosenberg comes back, then the bouncers need to be called in. That's a shame he would have a tantrum just to get attention. I work with kids like that, so it could be that he has a mental or social problem that he is trying to deal with to fulfil his self perceived ego level. I rate the Little Gretel an A+. The plus is for the Czech pilsner and Blue Moon on tap. Thank you to all the staff there who work so hard to make this a great place. You keep us coming back! Kristy W.

Little Gretel is definitely a tremendous addition to the restaurant scene in Boerne!  The food is always excellent and the staff gracious and accommodating - they even started stocking a sugar free syrup for my little Mama so that she can enjoy their wonderful pancakes and waffles along with the rest of us.  The atmosphere is top notch - they have seen to every detail.  I never hesitate to recommend Little Gretel to friends or visitors from outside the area - it's the kind of place that just makes your day more special.  Sounds like Eric Rosenberg has a social problem. . . . . No worries, we will be back.  Again, and again, and again!
