Profile?

Too much?  What crosses the line for you?  I hated it when people started adding their phone numbers... but now I barely see the phone numbers in the links to the profile pages.

I remember when our "signatures" were just our names but then again I am an old fogey on ActiveRain. Colleen Kulikowski had a Miss Manners post where we had a good chat about signatures and where a signature crossed the line and turned almost any comment into comment SPAM.  Anyone remember the post? Have a link?

Social Networking PLAN

I'm visiting the posts in the list below today ... and maybe one more... maybe John's Novaks's post... Breaking 100,000 points ten sounds like a good number of comments to leave as part of my Social Networking plan today.  John's post is from long ago but surely I ought to go pat him on the back for achieving 100,000 points.

What will I say? 

Something along the lines of

Maureen - I suspect any consumer looking for a REALTOR in your area is more likely do to a search for "Central Ohio Real Estate" than either of the other two options you mention, so I'd stick with boring and bland.  Right now you are #9 on Page 1 of google results for that search term.  I would be looking at how to move up in those results and not dropping that in favor of something creative that may not be found so easily in the search engines.

this is somewhat tongue in cheek Mark...some people try to cram too much into their signature IMHO.

Margaret's signature and her comment gave me an idea though.  Columbus is huge... Central Ohio is huger I may want to add Worthington Office to my signature.

The signature certainly can help with those Google searches and visablity.  Stick with what can be easily read and smart use of keywords.  By the way, you can play with it and change up till you find just what works for you.  Good luck!

Most of the posts were old.  Easier to comment?  Other than Jeanea's they all have the word points in the title!!!

So how long did you have the really long signature for?  I know that once you change the signature it changes it on all the comments you ever made.  And yes, i was surprised upon my return to the Rain mere weeks ago at how much stuff is being included in some signatures now.  A lot more than I have!

'scuse the silliness.

I switched it back last night so I probably had it about 8 hours?  The long link with the $$ and calls to action also distorts your blog I took some screen shots of it and will do a post on that.

I looked at it on a smaller screen in the office and it was really heinous.  Seeing the signature in the email alert on my cell phone screen on the comment on John Novak's post was what really set me off.

My signature now is  Maureen McCabe - Central OH Homes (Real Living HER - Worthington office)

I may take Homes out too...

Don the fun is over... I got EXTRA points for making a Rain god laugh... Isn't that odd?  I don't need the points or want the points. I get the points.

I got 250 points for commenting too... have not done that in a long time... unless of course people delete my comment, which they could... just silliness.
