Classic Sam Hughes Home for Sale

This classic Sam Hughes home is our new latest listing is located in Sam Hughes, one of my most favorite neighborhoods in Tucson.

We as a family lived there for many years, and spent many Saturday and Sunday mornings at the Rincon Market with friends.

There many different styles of homes in the Sam Hughes Neighborhood, which officially stretches from Speedway to Broadway, and from Campbell to Country Club.

It is named after a Welsh Immigrant Sam Hughes, who was one of the people responsible for incorporating the City of Tucson.

The Sam Hughes Elementary School sits squarely inside the neighborhood and is an Architectural feature of the area.

The Sam Hughes neighborhood was added to the Historical Register of Historic Places in 1994.

The total area is around 228 acres, and there are over 718 buildings , including Single Family Homes, Condos, and Commercial Properties. There are 586 that are considered Historically significant, with many different styles, from Craftman to Spanish Mediterranean in design.

Quite a few people stay at the Sam Hughes Inn when they are in town.

Many of the owners have, or are eligible to receive a reduction in their property taxes due to their Historic Status.

Many of them have wood floors as does this home, with cozy fireplaces and usually an Arizona Room. The Arizona Room was used to sleep outside in the hot summer nights.

This home was built in 1935 and is Classic Sam Hughes home of the era.

It has been maintained with the original kitchen, and like most homes in the area has had a few additons to the property including a Guest House. It maintains its charm with the outer courtyard and is very close to the University of Arizona.
