Yep ! - Assistants are becoming more and more essential for those tasks you mention so you can engage the highest rate of return activities !

Very nice reminder :o)

Cheers Rebecca !

Rebecca, it has taken me a long time to figure out what my hourly rate is worth and the best place for me to spend that versus hiring all the others like you said above.  Thank you!

Rebecca, It sounds so easy doesn't it? There are many things that I KNOW I shouldn't be doing. But I do them anyway. Some I enjoy and some.....well let's be honest....I am a major control freak and have a real problem delegating anything!!! It's why I basically work by myself and I'm sure it has cost me several million $$ over my 14 year career. BUT....things are changing. This is the year I have decided to chnage my stinkin' thinkin' and take things to a new level.

Rebecca - It is important to use our time effectively which means, 80 percent of our time should be directly involved in revenue producing activities, yes delegation is a must.

I do things I shouldn't be doing and could outsource as well - I just can't seem to bring myself to do it w- like Broker Bryant - I am probably part control freak but I do need to delegate more off to my partner rather than taking the whole burden on. Hm got me thinking - thank you... Time to change and work smarter.

Rebecca, This has been true since the beginning of time I think. But it is so much harder to do than it seems. I think we get caught in a cycle that has to do with money...hard for many people to justify an assistant. I even know people who won't spend money on the right tools of the trade..computers, websites, even lockboxes..until "I make some money"  But you really do have to spend some to make some.

I am living this, as I recently laid off my 25 hour per week assistant, and now have 12-14 hours of assistant help (new and in the learning curve!) but I did enlist the help of a VA!

Rebeccas -- I really like your posts -- each time I read I get something I need to pay attention to.  I do outsource some of these things --looks like I need to do more.   I HAVE to get the lead management under control. thanks

Hi Rebecca! Great tips. I have been using "In Touch Today" for 8 years now for postcards, e-zines (Mortgage Matters) and paper newsletters and they are the very best in the universe. It does cost but the value far out weighs the cost.  Delegating has saved my life.

Rebecca, thanks for the advice....I have really been looking at my business to see how I can make the best use of my time.  If you don't have an assistant....you are one.

Kelly- Thank YOU and although it may have taken you awhile I am glad you did find it.  That is key I think.

BB- Thank you for sharing.  I hear you.  I think the reason why I realized delegating was so important was I've had teh  but "opportunity" to watch many small business owners become either completely removed from their business and leave no one with a clear vision at the helm to help maintain and grow the prosperity of the business and I have watched many business owners do the opposite and do all of the non money making activities and fight to grow their business.

I am also the daughter of a serial entrepreuner....so that lesson was pretty early.

Jennifer- Damn that Pareto's principle is pretty non exclusionary isn't it:-)

Valerie- Focus on the goal, letting go will be easier than.

Barb- Yup and you can also find creative ways to find the money to pay, partnerships, affiliates, revenue sharing, etc.  You just gotta have the need, take some time to review the landscape and than make a plan for execution.  And outsourcing and delegating, well, sometimes it will involve the exchange of money and sometimes it won't have to on the front end.

Alexsandra- You're welcome and I am glad you get something out of the posts.  Do think and act on the delegating and outsourcing...this type of streamlining really anchors your foundation.
