Google MapsThis might be information that many of you already know about. But, I have spoken with 3 potential out of town buyers, this week that had never tried it before.  2 called me back and told me that they LOVED IT!   To me, it's great, especially for out of the area or international buyers looking to move to your city.

GOOGLE STREET VIEWS.  Just click on the link, you can either click on the map itself to get an overview of a particular city or county,  or you can type in a specific street address.  Once you do, click on street view. It will take you to the street right in front of the property you inquired about!*  I love it! Click the arrows on the street and you can head whichever way you like down the street!  It's great.

If you've never tried Google Maps and used Google Street Views, try it!

*It's my understanding that Google has been working on these maps, and in some cases, the maps have not yet been completed, especially for desolate areas.

Sandy, Street Views started in the big cities but they are adding it all over now. I just wish they would update it more often. Some of their Satellite views are over 8 years old. This is the Internet age?

Sandy - thanks for the reminder about this. I have used Google Street Views myself quite a bit and I know some buyers who have, but suspect many do not knpw about it. I work a great deal with relocation and this wll be a great tool.

Sandy,

I love Google products but it's also pretty scary just how much information Google has about us.

You can't imagine how much I appreciate this tool as an appraiser.  Trick now is not to abuse it.  Thanks!!!

Yes it is. I always use this tool whenever I go for showings. I take a print and high light the route I have follow. This is very usefull especially for the new area when the GPS doesn't work.

Sandy - I really like the street view on Google. Every once in a while you will come across something that should not be in the street view.

Hi Gary, Uh oh - I hate hearing that some of the views are over 8 years old.  I can see where that could be a big problem!

Lubbock - Good luck to you with it.

Marian, Thanks, I love my name also. And I sell real estate on the beach-REALLY!  It is a great tool.  Lots of people have never used it before.

Hi Jeff, That's what I have been using it for - relocations. It's great for this!

Hi Lori, Great idea. So true, out of town agents and asset managers too!

Richard, I have to agree with you -too much of our private info is public now. I don't like that either.

Hi Gregg, I'll bet this would be a wonderful too in your business.

Sham, Great idea to take a printout from Google Maps out on showings!

Hi Lynn, It's great for people not local.

Hi Robert, Really?  What have you seen that shouldn't be there? Hmmm.

Hi Sandy, We are not mapped yet, in many subdivisions. However!! I do love this tool and it is fun to "drive down" streets into neighborhoods in nearby cities! How they do that is pretty amazing!

I was amazed when Jason Crouch reported that our office addresses on AR were linked to Google street view! Pretty cool!

Hi Sandy,

I'm finding that most of my buyers - including local buyers - have looked at the street views before we go out on tour. And I think it's probably smart for agents to use it too before showing property you haven't seen before - otherwise the buyers have a leg up on you.

It's a great tool... I also like the bird's eye views that I get with live.com which let me see all sides of a property with better clarity.

Mary, I had heard that there were areas of the country not mapped yet.  All in good time. Yes, I saw that Jason Crouch indicated that our office addresses were mapped -that's neat.

Hi Elizabeth, It really is a great tool, isn't it?

Hi Hannah, I also have it on my website.  Buyers consider it invaluable!

Hi Richard, You're welcome. It is a wonderful tool!

Hi Chuck, Thanks for the pointer.  The bird's eye view on live.com is great!
