With over 133,000 members, the ability to get a featured post is more difficult than ever.  If you think about it there are a few reasons why;

1)  You're now 1 in 133,000.  The odds of you having a featured post are diminishing.  However, I will be the first to say that quality still rules.  You want to get noticed in a community that is the size of Fort Collins, Coloradon well on the way to becoming the size of Kansas City, Kansas or Des Moines, Iowa.  I don't care who you are...you need to be out and about and have good stuff if you're gonna get recognized there.

2)  You need to be persistent.  With 133,000 members, it's not as easy to get notice either for a feature or just for that exposure that you seek amongst your fellow rainers.  In other words, a one and done poster ain't gonna get the exposure that might have been had a year or two.  Through persistence, you'll note that you can get your name out there.  Your personality and education will trickle out there as you continue forward injecting yourself into the cyberspace realm of real estate. 

3)  Believe it or not, the economy has forced many to Active Rain.  So many in Real Estate have left the field.  But those who are now out of a job because of layoffs have also sought refuge in real estate.  And when you're beginning in real estate, you got "nothin but time."  Therefore, the rain is a great way to "jump start your business.  Those who are in real estate have more time on their hands than ever before...so that means that they have all the time in the world to write a great post for Active Rain.  This is what you're competing with.

NOTE...The Cream still rises to the top.  Write a quality post.  Then write a second one and a third one.  You may not get noticed immediately.  Persistence and quality will rise to the top.  How many NFL players get chosen from to play in the NFL as a free agent or a D3 player?  If you're great, the NFL will find you.  If you're a team player and a team builder and can communicate well or learn to communicate well, the big boys in the Rain will get to know you as well.

Listings ain't gonna do it anymore.  You need to write a post that people want to comment on.  Go ahead and take your 200 points, but wouldn't it be so much better if you wrote a 200 point post that people commented on because of the quality and raised your points (if you're a point person) higher or got you more exposure?
