On Networking, Flat Jonathan and Signs....

Cyberprofessional meeting

On networking.... I've talked about the Cyberprofessionals here before.

The Cyberprofessionals are a networking group with a history of over 11 years. They Cyberprofessionals got their start in the summer of 1995. They met chatting on the old RE/MAX Compuserve forum and had an idea, meet in person and share ideas. Only 9 agents attended that first meeting in Stamford, CT and they arrived by car, plane and train. Each of the attendees presented a topic and the idea of presenting "15 minutes of fame" was born. In Stamford, and the meetings that followed, the group continued to share ideas, some very high tech and others high touch. The group, numbering over 50, no longer just RE/MAX agents, meets twice a year in locations across the country.

We had our 23rd meeting this week in Albuquerque. You'll find the rest of their history and membership information on the Cyberprofessionals Website. Several Rainers are members of the group.

On flat Jonathan.... Since Kristal was sitting across from me at the meeting, I had a direct view of the boy. He was rather well behaved during the meeting but I understand showed his wild side afterwards. Kristal has the details in her own blog posts. We did give Flat Jonathan an honorary membership into the Cyberprofessionals. Our next meeting is in Las Vegas in November but I'm not sure we can trust Flat Jonathan with all those show girls, tigers and casinos.

On signs....I've never been to Albuquerque before but it had some great photo opportunities. And it also appears that the people of Albuquerque show their sense of humor in the form of signs. The first photo is from The Range Cafe in Bernalillo, New Mexico. The second is at our hotel. Needless to say, I didn't play the piano. And the last is the photo of a sweet lady leaving the casino. She seemed quite pleased and giggly about her sign and was more than accommodating when I asked her to pose for me. Albuquerque Cyberprofessional MeetingAlbuquerque Casino Patron Sign

Sounds like a great group Linda and already heard about the fun times from Kristal - that sign on the piano is hilarious!

Looks to me like you are one to look for (or take) joy to where ever you can.

Glad to see you had fun.

Our Board of Directors is an informal group who make the few decisions necessary to keep the group running and organized.  Linda Davis serves as the unofficial "mom" who collects the dues, keeps the membership list and plans the meeting agendas.

Sounds like a great group Linda. Maybe someday I'll join right now I'm juggling too much with the RE/MAX Conventions and NAR.

Thanks Ines!  You know how people who can't play always feel it necessary to sit down at the hotel piano to try it out.  Doesn't happen at that hotel.

Craig - Since I'm gotten older, I don't take myself very seriously.  It reduces my stress levels.

Missy - I hope you and everyone else interested checks us out.

Linda, sounds like you are having a great time out there in Albuquerque, but don't forget you are missed here in Connecticut.

By the way make sure Flat Jonathan keeps his hands where you can see them around all those women :)

Hi Linda I am thinking you are having so much fun there...with maybe  a bit of learning thrown in lol.  Any city with that kind of sense of humor makes me want to move there! (Ok, the warm weather too). Can't wait to quiz you when you get back.  Oh, and to see the Carnac post :-)

Amazing how things happen.  Carol and I went up to Santa Fe last Saturday; she had been there before but I had not.  On the way up we decided to have breakfast.  Stopped at The Range Cafe for no real reason other than it looked like a good place for breakfast.  While we were waiting for a seat Carol ventured into the gift shop.  Immediately, she asked me to come look at something interesting on the door of the shop.  We laughed at that same sign.

On the way home from the CyberProfessional meeting I took a picture of a sign on the airplane.  It too is interesting.  Check out my posting on the meeting.

Later entry:  Spent about an hour composing the entry to which I referred above, only to find that it did not upload!  Alas, have to do it again some time today.  Talk about exercises in futility!
