Your Ego is Not Your Amigo!

It is a week after February 2009, as I continue to review my 2009 business plan, I also reflect on my success and 'need to do overs' in 2008.  I had a good business year of 2008, as I move forward to 2009, it is important for me to do better than previous year, and I need to keep my ego in check!

Ego is a double edge sword, successful people always and absolutely find a way to succeed... failure is not an option. They get back on the horse after they fall off the horse and learn new ways to ride the horse or new skills to make things work. This is because success people have a strong mindset.

In order for me to keep my ego in check and keep on with the strong mindset, I often ask myself the following questions:

  • What drives me the most and why?
  • What is the real motivation for being in this business?
  • What is holding me back?

In our culture, we are sometimes in the auto-pilot or zombie like to search for wealth and money, however we sometimes forget to ask and check with ourselves to see what we are really searching for and striving. What is sucess to ourselves, in business life, spiritual mindset, physical health and personal relationship.   Perhaps it is time for you to keep your ego in check and reset some goals for yourself, remember that New Year resolution you made a month ago? Are you still on track? If not, should you get back on track or adjust that resolution...?

Make it a Great Sunday!

Hsu, the auto-pilot or zombie is actually what has been holding this country back. I think human beings by nature are lazy or have a tendency to be lazy.

Sometimes we can be looking so hard we over look the simplest way to achieve our goals. It's a good idea to stop and reflect and where we have been and where we are try to go.

My ego re-check could very well be, I cant do it all and that's okay too. I think I drive myself too hard sometimes and takes out the fun in life.

Having a big ego is a good thing for motivation, but understanding when to pull it in takes some restraint.

Denise: Yes, in order to get to where we want to go, we have to stop along the way to see if we are still moving towards that direction. If not, modify our plans & goals accordingly. Have a great 2009.

THANK YOU KATERINA. As an independent contractor and self employeed person, sometimes it is easier to forget to ask ourselves those questions. We have to make that a habit more than a chore to reexamine ourselves!

Loreena - So true, sometimes I too push myself very hard and become way too serious. We must realize that we just can not do it all, and need to be ok with it. Otherwise we make others around us miserable as well...!
