                                                         Paneling Above Firelace Before

Paneling above fireplace before painting

Paneling Above Firelace After

Paneling above fireplace After

An example of how painting outdated paneling can not only update your room, but it will make it look larger.  In this case it draws you in to the room, and gives it a newer fresher look. The walls were painted also, making the white beams on the ceiling stand out.

This was a fixer-upper and sold around 60 days on a small budget.

This looks great! I especially like that you left the actual mantel in the wood tone. It gives it more authenticity and warmth than just painting everything.  Good eye.

I remember seeing photos of this home after you staged it Cindy.  The painted paneling has a huge impact in the room.  Glad to hear it sold so quickly.  Looks Fantastic.

It looks wonderful, Cindy.  Painting the paneling is a great and simple solution for transforming the space.  And in this case, it really proves the point.

Congratulations.  Your post is being featured in the group Staging Before & After Pictures.

Beautiful staging!  Great example of what a difference painting paneling can make

What a difference!  Painting paneling truly does update a home and in this case, it really did the job.  I love the chairs you used in this room - where did you get them?

Looks great Cindy! I've painted over paneling several times before (in my own homes) it make a huge difference when time or budget doesn't allow for any kind of replacement. Although I will say it's a pain to do.

Unfortunately I see a lot of paneling in our market place. You are right, painting it is always the least expensive way to fix it's out dated look.

Cindy-This transformation is amazing. You didn't even notice the beautiful mantel before and now it really pops out at you. Great job!

Cindy ~ It looks great painted! What a difference!  It not only looked outdated but way too dark for this room.  Great job!

Oh that looks sooo much better!  I'm all for painting ANYTHING that is outdated.

It is interesting that I read this today.  Just last night as my husband and I were watching a kitchen make-over on television, he mentioned how much more he liked out livingroom since we had painted the paneling.  It is so much brighter and more cheerful.  I love paint!

Great job Cindy. Painting the paneling really lightened up the room. This is a great example of how staging can make a huge difference.

Cindy, great easy way to show the huge difference it can make to Paint the Paneling! Here's another B&A of paneling transformation!

Paneling BEFORE painting   Paneling AFTER painting

Looks much better, doesn't it?  My husband cringes at the thought of painting paneling, but it truly brings light and brightness to a room.  Why do men so like wood?

Cindy ~ Amen! I agree 100% it makes a huge difference. I posted a home just this past summer in which we did the same thing, what a transformation it made.

What a remarkable and dramatic a little paint can make.  You've done a great job in accenting the focal points and highlighting the selling features of this room.  Love ya Style!

Looks fabulous!  Unlike when painting over wallpaper, painted paneling always looks better than it did before.

You know I just discovered this group (where have I been?) -

This looks great Cindy and there are sooo many houses in my area with this type of paneling. While it may have been popular 20 + years ago, it looks dated and dark.. Painting brings it into the right (and light) decade!

Cathy-Thanks, it was very simple, but the budget was tight.

Peg-I like some exposed wood too.

Michelle-Good memory, they had most of their house done.  But it need a lot of upgrades.

Kathy-Thanks so much for posting in your group. I laugh when I look at my top photo, becasue I remembered I had just had coffee and my hands had the caffeine shakes!

Wanda-Thanks, A little paint a furniiture go a long way.

Tracey-Thanks, they came from CORT, I was out of chairs at that time.

Donna-In most cases paneling should be painted over..IMHO.

Mary-It's like an automatic face-lift.

Liz-Also, this room was very dark.

Kathy-I've painted all sorts of paneling, and it always looks better painted.

Sandi-I agree!

Vicki-That's great if you husband noticed and liked it!

Dan & Amy-Thanks, it certainly helped.

Annie-That is a huge difference, night and day!

Lori-Most men do, they love wood, and hate to see it painted over.

Teri-Thanks, photos were dark, but hopefully everyone gets the idea.

Barbara-Especially if there are trees that block the windows or it's a dark house.

Dale-Glad you like it.

Tori-And easier too, wallpaper can be a nightmare.

Karen- It's certainly cheaper than tearing it down and sheetrocking it.
