Interesting morning at Fort Rucker Alabama

Waking up to a slightly unusual ray of light beaming through the windows

I stepped outside with my morning cup of coffee and the family dog at my side

Things looked different : no blue skies, no beaming rays of the morning sunrise

The world as I saw it was pinkish/orange

I was not sure if the pictures would turn out as I saw things

But once I uploaded them - they turned out to be very similar

Any ideas on what would cause the sky to look so different?

Hi Michelle!  Sorry I can't help you on this one!  I think that there is a feature on the camera that makes colors look like an 'antique' and this is what these photos appear to be set on.  Don't know but, I'm staying tuned to see what the 'experts' have to say about it!

Hi Debe:  Sepia, I think is the setting.  I would agree that is what the pictures look like.  However, the pictures actually portray how the sky looked.  I thought maybe a storm was brewing, but it ended up being a beautiful sunny day in the Fort Rucker area.  Maybe something to do with the solstice?  Thanks for brain storming with me.  I look forward to hear others input.

Michelle - I have seen skies like this when there was a lot of dust in the air, especially a mix of dust and a light fog. Beautiful, though.

Very strange, Michelle. I've never seen a morning sky such a color. I'll be parking here, my interest is peaked to see what others think.

Mike:  Interesting.  There was a light fog that morning so that could explain the unusual color.  It almost seemed unreal.  Thank you for your insight.

Michelle,
I'd call the local weather station and asked them.  I hope they can shed some "light" on it for you.  :-)

Debbie:  It was really unusually.  I was not sure if the camera would capture the odd color, but it did.  I, too, am looking forward to the different responses.  Thanks for stopping in.

Cynthia in Onslow: Thank you for the advice.  I tried contacting the local news weather department, however, still awaiting a returned phone call.  I guess it was just an unusual morning here in the Fort Rucker or maybe it was just early in the morning and my eyes were playing tricks on me?

Cynthia selling Onslow County NC: I was hoping to get some more insights as well.  I guess it was just one of those crazy mornings and there is no reason for the pinkish/orangish sky.  It was interesing.  Thank you.
