Sherman Library and Gardens in Corona del Mar
Sherman Library and Gardens is located in Corona del Mar on a little over two acres, and is a horticultural museum. Located right off Coast Highway, and surrounded by homes in the Village of Corona del Mar, you feel as though you are in a tropical paradise. Sherman Gardens is a research library and focuses in the areas of California, Arizona parts of Nevada, and the Pacific Southwest. Because it is a research library, the materials do not leave the premises as opposed to other libraries.

Founded in 1966 by Arnold Haskell, Sherman Library and Gardens was originally named in memory of Moses H. Sherman who was an educator. Sherman Gardens has a large volunteer base who assist with caring for the plants and flower beds. There are also Docents whose primary function is to provide tours which are educational for visitors and students. Appointments can be made for these tours.


Sherman Gardens is a museum of living plants and horticulture which is displayed on the grounds in Corona del Mar with sculptures and fountains as part of the setting. There are wide walkways and beautiful flower gardens to enjoy all the different species and varieties of plants. There is a wide variety of horticulture from Staghorn ferns, Orchids, Rabbits foot ferns, and annual plants which add local color so there is beauty everywhere you look. Be sure to bring your camera when you visit.
Some of the features include a Tropical Conservatory - which has stunning orchids and ferns and a beautiful koi pond with a waterfall, and a Discovery Garden which appeals to the senses of touch and smell.


Sherman Gardens also has a care to have lunch and enjoy the beautiful and serene surroundings named Cafe Jardin. Sherman Gardens is also available for weddings or private events.

Classes are also available to the public for a fee and may include topics such as caring for indoor plants, or classes on Orchids. Visitors are also welcome to come and view Sherman Library and Gardens for a small admission fee at the door. Beautiful shots! My mother is a retired florist and I think I have a little left in my blood! The staghorns are gorgeous, the orchid is pure art and the bottom photo is spectacular!

Absolutely amazing pictures. My son was stationed 4 years while in the Navy in that area, and loved it while there. But with your weather, how could you not love it!
