I love extreme sports. As a former bicylce motocross (BMX) racer, I have the jacked up knees and scrapped elbows to prove it. However, I suspect most fans of extreme sports are really there not to see the jumps and stunts completed but for the off chance there will be some big time face plants. MTV figured this out too and is featuring a new show called Scarred.
Scarred features videos of dirt jumpers, skateboarders, snowboarders and all kinds of other extreme sports athletes eating some serious doo doo. I am talking pain. Anytime I see pro athletes of major sports (basketball, football, & baseball) crying about they can't play because they sprained an ankle, I just laugh at them. Wimps. Try landing on your face with no helmet after failing to jump down three flights of stairs backwards on a bicycle then we can talk about needing to sit out a game.
Sometimes rate shoppers are like the athletes on Scarred. While watching the kids on the approaches for their jumps you want to reach through the TV and stop them because you know it is going to end badly. Every loan officer has seen it. You try to properly counsel the client and offer a fair deal but the borrower is so focused on getting the lowest rate they go with the too good to be true internet offer not recognizing the dangers. You know there is no way on God's green earth the loan is going to close at the rate and fees promised. You see a big face plant coming in the form of asinine fees, inflated rates, or worse yet, lost earnest money. But like watching Scarred, all you can do is sit back, watch, and say ouch
