Big news tonight... The Senate just voted to give a tax credit of up to $15,000 to homebuyers.

Like to read the entire Tax Ammendment that adds the 15 K Tax Credit to the stimulas bill for 2009 tax year. Still needs to approval from the CONGRESS to become law.

This may help to kick start our market. I also believe a decrease in Capitol Gains taxes would go a long way to help jump start the Housing Market. I hope it works as I know our market could use a boost.

This tax credit, along with the good deals that are out there , coupled with interest rates, at an all time low may be just what is needed.

It may work. I hope so.

Thanks Karina for the link,

That is great, it's just begining. This is a good incentive for people to start to thinking about buying vs. renting. I like to be positive and I think our government should give some benfits to companies which hire new employees, and those which open facilities here in USA not oversees. We need more jobs here in USA.

Great stuff!  it's about time our elected officials did something that might actually get real estate moving.  However I know 15,000 will go a long way for a lot of people throughout the USA but in expensive areas like California, New York, Hawaii etc..  it is a very small offer considering the price of homes.  I am not complaining I am just saying that it may have little or no impact in those areas leaving them depressed for a longer time.  If I buy a 100,000 home I just received a 15% discount.  If I buy a $500,000 home I just received a 3% discount.

What are your thoughts?

Karina, I hope they do something to get the housing industry going. How bad does it have to get before they act?? I will believe it when I see it. I am trying to think positive.

FOR THOSE WHO BOUGHT IN JANUARY:
THE HOUSE PASSED THE BILL FOR A $7500 TAX CREDIT THAT DOESN'T NEED TO BE REPAID AND IS AFFECTIVE FOR PURCHASES OF HOMES AFTER 01/01/09.
THE SENATE CHANGED IT TO A $15,000 TAX CREDIT BUT IT IS ONLY AFFECTIVE FOR PEOPLE WHO PURCHASES AFTER IT'S SIGNED.
IF THE SENATE PASSES THERE'S TODAY, THEN THERE WILL BE A MEETING BETWEEN MEMBERS OF THE SENATE AND MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE TO WORK OUT THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE 2 BILLS.
I BOUGHT IN JANUARY SO I OBVIOUSLY WANT THE $15,000 TAX CREDIT THE SENATE PROPOSED BUT WITH THE START DATE THE HOUSE PROPOSED.
YOU NEED TO MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD AND CONTACT YOUR SENATORS AND HOUSE REPRESENTATIVE. THIS IS AMERICA SO YOUR VOICE IS YOUR POWER. E-MAIL THEM OR CALL THEM. HERE IS A CONVENIENT NUMBER. CALL AND ENTER YOU ZIP CODE AND IT WILL GET YOU IN CONTACT WITH ALL OF YOUR CONGRESSMEN. DECISIONS ARE BEING MADE, DO IT NOW. 1-866-924-NAHB (6242)
