Carlsbad Flower Fields are Set to Open March 1, 2009

The Flower Fields in Carlsbad - Jeff Dowler 2007

The famed Carlsbad Flower Fields are set to open March 10, 2009 (and remain open until, approximately, May 10).

The Flower Fields, about 50 acres or so of brightly colored ranunculas, are located just north of Palomar Airport Road and east of the 5 freeway. These colorful fields of flowers attract thousands of visitor each year to admire the brown earth that is so amazingly transformed into a sea of color, with the ocean in the distance beyond the Carlsbad windmill.

The Flower Fields have several events during their short season, including an Arts and Crafts Fair on April 4 and 5, Kids Day on March 28 (face painting, art and science projects, entertainment), and a full day of Bluegrass music on April 4, 2009.
