What Should You Buy? For Present or Future Needs.

By
Real Estate Sales Representative with Forest Hill Real Estate Inc, Brokerage

When thinking about buying a home, you need to think about your needs both now and in the future.

Consider the following:

  1. Size requirements. How many bedrooms and bathrooms will you need. You will require a space for a home office? Will a single-car or double-car garage work for you?
  2. Special features.

          Do you have these requirements

  • for a family member with special needs
  • a fireplace
  • air-conditioning
  • swimming pool
  • energy saving equipment
  • environmentally enhanced
  • family room
  • work room
  • storage

   3. Lifestyle and stages.Do you have children now or are you planning a family? Do you have  teenagers who will be moving away soon. Are you close to retirement?

Choosing the Location That Is Right For You

The home might suit everything you need, but the location might not be appropriate.

Consider:

  • Do you want city, town or country living
  • Where you work, will it be easy to get to and what are commuting costs?
  • The children's school-how will they get there
  • Do you need a safe walking area, recreational facilities:park, hockey, skating, soccer, football, etc.
  • Proximity to family and friends

Great points Diane, tastes and needs do change.  That is why sometimes it may be better to rent if one doesn't know for sure where he or she wants to live. Just something to consider.
