I dear friend and client was Killed last night on the highway. There was a black ice pile up which spared all but one motorist. It wasn't the crash that proved fatal, it was his attempt to help others after the initial accident.

My Son and I were running 10 minutes late from his music class last night. The teacher has taken a special interest in Conor and wished to chat beyond the scheduled class time. Musical development being a very important part of Conors life, I have gotten used to waiting for him beyond the appointed time.

It began to rain while the temperature held at 26 degrees, and the roads were slick, as we neared our exit we were stopped by firemen and told of an accident up ahead. We waited 100 yards from the scene for over an hour, and were finally told to proceed with caution.

As we came abreast of the first car I recognized the license plate and commented, that's a friends car, but seeing that the airbag had deployed and the minimum damage to the vehicle we proceeded on our way curios but not concerned.

The eleven O'clock news explained that the passenger (my client & friend) had left his car after the crash to help others and was struck by an on coming vehicle that was out of control due to the same icy conditions. I said to my wife if I was on time , I too would have gotten out to help.

My heart and prayers goes out to the Shou Family, Nghi is the farther of three husband and local business owner and we will all miss you very much. If anyone wishing to pass along their sympathy please feel free to contact me for further details.

Steve, my sympathies on the loss of your friend/client.  Knowing that he died, while attempting to help others, should be some solace, but I know it's difficult to feel that, at this moment.

I am so sorry... my condolences.

Steve:  How tragic!  Trying to help and killed in the process.  Let that be a lesson to folks to stay in their cars if they ever face a similar circumstance.  Sorry for your loss and glad you are okay.

We do take life for granted and when someone is taken suddenly we need to tell our loved ones how much they mean to us and remember to do it often.

Gwenn, fate play it's hand in every ones life. I friend commented to me on my facebook page..to a smaller extent it is like the guy who was late to work at the World Trade Center, the morning of 9/11 due to a nursery school drop off.

Lara, You said it , It was incredibly sad to see a 46 year old friend gone from our lives. I made myself go skiing yesterday it was a glorious day and I felt very much alive, you can't pass up the good stuff when it comes along..because you can't always do it some other time.
