Wondering Wednesday ~ Purple Lightning!

She caught these in the middle of an Arizona "monsoon" thunderstorm in Phoenix, Arizona in August 2008.

They were beautiful and awesome to behold, and yet crazy scary to experience!

April ~ Jeni kept asking people what it looked liked to them, and all I kept seeing was a snake. Strangest bolt of lightning I've ever seen, too!

Lightning shots facinate me. I have tried to catch lightning but it has always been to quick for me.

I love watching lightning. Colorado, especially Colorado Springs is ranked one of the highest for lightning strikes. My fearless leader....bossmanRealtor/Owner of Avalon Properties has been struck twice by lightning. YES! Twice LOL He came with us on vacation to Cancun last year. He sat in that burning equator sun and never put on any sunblock. The rest of us were wearing 50 + sunblock.

Randy ~ I have too! And I've stood in some pretty intense lightning storms to try. But my daughter just seems to have a feel for when to shoot. Either that, or she's just lucky! LOL

Raine ~ OUCH! He sounds like he's prety much fried already! Have you seen the Brad Pitt movie about Mr. Buttons? LOL

Konnie ~ Thank you very much! My oldest daughter took those photos. I was with her in the middle of that incredible storm, and while I was worrying about being hit with a lightning bolt, she was shooting like a wild woman. LOL I'm sure glad she insisted! :)

Hey Debi ~ In my younger years, I used to try all the time, in Texas and Oklahoma, with a 35mm, to get a good pic of lightning. I was never successful. But my daughter goes out and in one night, one storm, gets three of the most spectacular lightning pics I've ever seen! Go figure... ;-) Glad you like 'em!

I came back over here today to see if I could find some more great pictures from Jenifer. I report, "Success!" Jenifer needs her own gallery. Scottsdale should have some good locations.

You mean Jenifer's made a new fan out of you, Russel! Very nice. Did you see her butterfly photos? I agree with you that she needs her own gallery/website, and it's something we're working on. Keep in mind that she's only 16 years old, and all of this notoriety is a bit overwhelming for her. So is the magnitude of running a 'business'. But we're working on it, and I'm sure she'll get there soon. Thanks for the kind words of encouragement, my friend!
