Social networking is exciting on Active Rain because the community is vibrant with conversation, intimacy and networking. Many Active Rainers join Facebook and Twitter, end up conversing with the same Active Rainers, and wonder "how can I make Facebook relevant to my business development and community networking?".

Simply put, the key is to get your local community of friends and associates to join your networks. You want to get them on Twitter and Facebook but you don't have time to teach them how to use these social media tools to best effect (you may not know yourself ;)

We offer the solution. You may have heard about our ongoing series of Social Media Marketing Webinars previously from Jeff Dowler or Brad Andersohn. We're starting our sixth series next week, and we'll show you how to make the social media relevant and actionable for building your local network, and create a ubiquitous online presence (all without necessarily blogging, btw).

When you register for our Social Media Marketing course through Active Rain, we offer you the opportunity to invite as many of your friends and contacts as you want (locally or nationally) to attend our Social Media Marketing webinar for one month free (a $99 value).

Your contacts must be outside the real estate industry - local politicians, business leaders, small business owners, chambers of commerce members, former and prospective clients - anybody who can benefit from social media marketing for their local business. In four weekly sessions, we will demonstrate step-by-step how to use Twitter and Facebook, and show all of you how to build a massive community network together. This webinar, focused to small business owners, will be separate from the webinar you as a real estate professional will be attending.

We are limiting this opportunity to invite your friends free only to our first 50 registrants. We're offering the 3-month course for $49/month to Active Rain members (half price from $99) and you can attend any or all 12 sessions we offer per month (including the webinar for small business owners if you want) for one low tuition fee. We start next week:

Two time slots for Real Estate:

  • Mondays from 10:30am to 11:30am PST, starting February 16, through May 16 - weekly
  • Tuesdays from 9:00am to 10:00am PST, starting February 17, through May 17 - weekly

One time slot for Small Business

  • Tuesdays from 8:00am to 9:00am PST, starting February 24, through May 24 - weekly (after the first free month, your friends can opt to continue the 3-month course at $49/month)

So check our testimonials, register today and get all your friends on board with you on the social media train! We will explain how your friends can register for their webinar (starting one week later) at our first sessions. Your friends will thank you for the opportunity; the gift of business education is far more valuable than a Starbucks coffee card.

UPDATE: Network Generation is the Next Lead Generation. I'm discussing how building your community social network will draw in your consumer traffic and leads.

Thanks for postsing this, Pat. The webinars are terrific and we are excited about getting more of our Southern California CRS members involved in social media. Neat idea to offer the same series for non-real estate folks.

@Mirela - next week, we will also have two makeup sessions on Wednesday and Thursday mornings Pacific time, so you can attend one of those. It's only necessary to attend one session per week (unless you want to do more), we provide different time slots for scheduling convenience. @Terry We also "TIVO" our sessions for later viewing.

For veterans of Twitter and Facebook like @LaneBailey @Missy @Jeff @Kathleen & @Gina (& thx for the kudos!), we can add you to a more advanced course meeting on Mondays from 9:00-10:00PST that picks up next week on how to integrate your business networks into Twitter and Facebook. Please twitter me for more details @pkitano. If you register, you can then invite your local community of friends and clients who are not on Twitter or Facebook to a free four week webinar session that will get them on your network with you.

For those of you who sign up by tomorrow, you have a nice Valentine's Day gift you can email to your closest friends and client base:

Dear [Friend],

Wishing you a fabulous Valentine's Day!

As one of my best friends, I'd like to give you a peek into the social networking world of Facebook and Twitter and how it can help you build your business. You may have heard about them, but not sure how to use them to best effect.

I'm attending a webinar series that is helping me with my business marketing, and would like to invite you to attend the first four sessions free. Here are some of their testimonials. They are scheduled every Tuesday at 8:00 Pacific Time (change time for your zone) and you'll learn how to use the "social media" to connect to people in our community.

It's a $99 value, and there's no obligations at all... let's learn to get ourselves networked together and be successful developing our businesses! Call me if you'd like to do this... etc., etc.

If your friends express interest, you can send them a link to our site to explain what we do at http://domusconsultinggroup.com/ar. We'll discuss how you invite them to our webinar during our first sessions next week.

Sign up soon because we're already getting a lot of registrations...

Hi Patrick,

Really good information here.

I am finally getting the hang of Twitter and it seems to be one of those things that the more you learn about it, the more you discover that you didn't really know, and that is a good thing.

Really powerful stuff there.

I use the facebook blog app to import all my blog postings from all the various sources I write at. Easy way to get some free promo but doesn't generate any link back to a site unless a url is placed in the update status field. "Toby is .... placing a url in the update status text field" which tends to look a little sloppy.

Thanks for all comments and feedback. I think the theme of this series of webinars is to get your physical network into social networks together with you. When you have your whole community accessible through Facebook and other social networks, you'll see the ease of connecting with people in your community who are looking for a real estate professional. Our mission is to show you and your community of friends, acquaintances and clients how to connect... here's an example: http://activerain.com/blogsview/917203/10-Steps-for-Attracting-Twitterers-You-Want-to-Connect-With

Pardons for the sales message. I didn't exactly know how to explain our initiative to help bring your immediate community up to speed on social media except just to blurt it out. I was hoping that it would be helpful for your networking if we showed your friends and colleagues how to use the social media. They would connect to you and help virally build your network. Our intent is genuine - if you want to invite 200 of your friends, go ahead and we'll get them all up to speed with you on Facebook & other social media... and your friends will hopefully love you for it. That's our offer to you, think of us as a "network generation service". And we have always tried to keep our fees very reasonable as well.

I've always been against the hammer on the head sales pitch as being ineffective. I welcome any suggestions on how I can get messages across without it being perceived as an advertisement.

@Kent, @Tamara - Twitter is often misunderstood, but it happens to be the best tool to connect with anybody you want. I always suggest not to use it as a chatbox, but as a broadcast medium that distributes valuable information (no listings!) to your following.

Pat - having participated in your 101 webinar, and now working through 30, I can safely say the value of expanding one's on-line network is incredible, and the ways that this can be done numerous. Let me expand a bit.

Readers should understand that what Domus Consulting Group is offering is not just a webinar, you are offering a way to build our Facebook (and other) networks with people in our community, wherever they are. You want to grow your local network but don't have the time to show your past clients and others how to use Facebook? You and Kevin will teach all of them for us... and the beauty is that we can invite hundreds of our contacts if we want. I believe that with what you will teach them (and the course is exciting and a great learning experience - just check the testimonials on your site), our contacts will thank us for getting them up and running on social networks.

Any new contacts will learn how to build their own networks and then connect them with us. This is a great way to get more consumer traffic into our Facebook network and to our blogs. And all this for $49 per month? It seems like a no-brainer to me. I have a huge list of folks I am planning to invite already.

Patrick:

I think this is a great idea. My coach with Buffini and Company is emphazing development of the business contacts within my database this as a way to generate business both for myself and for the small business owners within my database.

Clearly, some type of on-line marketing strategy is neccessary in today's world to grow one's business. I believe many of the small business owners who here-to-fore have NO on-line marketing strategy can benefit from knowing how to start marketing in the on-line world.

My business is based on referrals from my database. I believe all business can benefit from the networking available in the social media platform. I send many referrals to the small businesses in my database every year and they do the same for me. Extending, enlarging, and strenghtening my network thru an on-line networking effort makes sense to me.

I will encourage my small business owners to join your webinar series as a way of introduction to the on-line social networking media like Twitter and Facebook.

I can say without reservation that Pat Kitano's seminar is well worth taking the time to see what exactly this will mean for you and how it will mesh with your overall business strategy in these changing times.  Pat is onto a groundbreaking idea that will augment your business dramatically. We all need to embrace the changes that are taking place at breakneck speed in our industry because social networking is where our future in this industry lies. We not only need to tap into it, we need to bring all of our contacts onboard with us.

It's Domus Consulting's offer to bring all your contacts into your social network for free that is so revolutionary. No company has done this before. We as Realtors can now focus on doing our business and let Pat and Kevin teach our contacts how to help us build our network. When our friends and clients understand how to effectively use Facebook, they become perfect referral sources to connect us.

While you may be familiar with Facebook and Twitter, and use them occasionally and maybe for just your personal use, Pat's seminar demonstrates how  to connect the dots to create a broader client referral base that will be an invaluable in terms of your ROI for the future. I highly recommend your looking into this if you really want to ramp up your future business.

Pat, great post!  Please don't apologize for your "sales pitch".  It seemed professional and relevant.  Why should you NOT give a "sales pitch" for what you are offering, since you are charging for it?  In addition, you are also giving extra value for the cost of the product.  WE ALL are sales people and have a product to sell.  Do WE tone it down and apologize for it when we are trying to sell a house to/for someone, or give the best "pitch" we can and do the best job possible for whatever client we represent?  We all know the answer to that question, and you and your valuable product are no different than the rest of us and our products.  Go for it!  I am considering signing up for this, but am not sure it will fit in my schedule right now on such short notice, but will work it in as soon as I am able.

Thanks again!  PruLadyPJB, York, PA

Hi Tamara,

We teach a social media system that is extremely effective in building networks across a number of platforms like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, all without spending a lot of time and energy. What we're offering (optionally) is to teach your immediate contacts free how to get on these networks together with you - a completely practical way to build your network without you having to teach them yourself.
