The readers of Conde Nast Traveler ranked our very own Charleston as the #2 city in America to visit! Charleston has been on Conde Nast Traveler's top ten list for the past sixteen years. In the most recent years we have been in the third spot, right behind New York City. And it seems that we have moved our way up into their spot while they drop down into #3. And who has remained in the #1 spot? San Fransisco! So watch out California - we're moving our way to the top!

I adore NYC but should try to get to charleston too some day! Sounds so nice!~
California had three cities in the Top 10. I've been to all the Top 10, but I still have yet to get to any foreign cities other than those Canadian and Mexican cities that border U.S. cities. Maybe people are thinking that New York (both city and state) just has some bad karma associated with it -- World Trade Center in 1994, 9/11, the airline disaster a month after 9/11, Miracle on the Hudson, latest airline disaster in Buffalo.
Kristin: Sure! Just be aware that we are a much slower paced city than NYC, and we sleep, too :)
Russel: That may have something to do with the rankings, but it's been several years since New York had anything negative happen, so I wouldn't guess that those were the influences for the poll. Then again, I didn't participate in the poll, so I couldn't say either way.

Hey Jim,
That's very impressive. My wife really wants to see Charleston. Hopefully we'll get there someday!
Congratulations on Charleston's most recent status!
