I live, work and play in Eagle Rock. It's a great little community in Northern L.A. that has a vibrant and lively feel to it. It's a place that is eccentric, intelligent and conscious and full of artists, musicians, the hip and the educated. It is very near downtown L.A. and Pasadena between the 2 and 110 freeways. There are some amazing properties in Eagle Rock and it's a great place to own real estate. EAGLE ROCK My Top 5 Things to do in Eagle Rock are as follows: -Drive on the 134 Freeway at sunset on a clear day and be treated to spectacular views of the Eagle Rock valley and downtown Los Angeles.

-The Eagle Rock Music Festival, an annual music bonanza with dozens of acts playing inside and out along Colorado and Eagle Rock Blvd. Always great shows, always a great time. eagle rock music festival - Ride a bicycle over Townsend Ave for a grueling work out but gorgeous views of Eagle Rock on one side and Highland Park on the other. Close runner up is to ride a bike to the Rose Bowl, less than 10 minutes away on Colorado Blvd and over the world famous suicide bridge in Pasadena. old eagle rock circa 1900 -Eat at any of the following top-notch local establishments: Cafe Beaujolais, Fatty's, The Coffee Table, Ginger Grass, Auntie Em's, Swork Coffee, Oinkster, The Taco Truck on Eagle Rock Blvd, Thai Eagle Roxx or Casa Bianca. Then grab a cocktail at any of the following establishments. Johnny's, The York, The Chalet or The Little Cave. If in the mood, then go chill out at either of our Hookah Bars on Eagle Rock Blvd. -Play golf, skateboard or hit up the batting cages in nearby Arroyo Park, failing that I love to walk around the beautiful campus of Occidental College and wonder if Barack Obama had fun when he attended? .occidental college fountain -I have one more favorite thing that I just have to mention to make my list six. On Sunday nights at the All Star Lanes on Eagle Rock Blvd is held the meetings of the much-adored Eagle Rock Bowling and Drinking club. Wikipedia has some great information on Eagle Rock, here are some of the more interesting facts about "The Rock"from Wikipedia: The entire neighborhood has been experiencing gentrification for the last few years as young urban professionals, finding themselves priced out of Los Feliz, Silver Lake-Echo Park, have found affordable housing there. Eagle Rock is inhabited by a wide variety of ethnicities and socioeconomic groups, but it is best known as an eclectic gathering of hipsters and the creative class. Eagle Rock is known for its bohemian vibe, mix of class levels, and neighborhood feel. and A core of counter-culture writers, artists, and filmmakers has existed in this town since the 20s, and is being supplemented by the recent influx of hipsters. The town was well known during the late 50s, 60s and 70s for its sizable Hot Rodder culture, which is now almost defunct. Eagle Rock is the site of Occidental College, attended by President Barack "Barry" Obama and other notable celebrities. "Oxy" as it's known to it's people was designed by famed architect Myron Hunt, and built in 1914. Eagle Rock is home to many historic and achitecturally significant homes, many done in the Craftsman, Georgian, Streamline Moderne, Art Deco and Spanish/Mission style. Some of my favorite homes are at the top of the hill and overlook the whole Eagle Rock valley with the 134 a distant artery. Eagle Rock and the motion picture industry With an "Anytown, USA" feel to it, and such a close proximity to Hollywood and the major motion picture studios, this community has often been a favored choice as a film location. Cameos include Top Gun, Hunt for Red October, and a second-season episode of The O.C. Star Trek III was partially filmed on the campus of Occidental College. This campus also served as "California University" in the 90's television series, Beverly Hills, 90210. Quentin Tarantino filmed parts of Reservoir Dogs here and in neighboring Highland Park. Some of the architecture of Eagle Rock has been featured as well; a house on the 5200 block of Shearin Avenue was used during the 1984 filming of Teen Wolf, starring Michael J. Fox, and a house on the 4900 block of College View Avenue was used during the 1975 filming of The Day of the Locust, starring Donald Sutherland. From a story perspective, in the movie Days Of Thunder, Tom Cruise's character was from Eagle Rock, and there have been numerous movies and television shows based on the Hillside Strangler[6] and Richard Ramirez.[7] Many famous motion picture actors and actresses, along with writers and others involved in the industry, have lived in Eagle Rock over the years, see the Notable Residents section below for more details.
