Northern Virginia Home Sales January 2009 - Northern Virginia Homes Sales Decline

Northern Virginia Homes Sales Decline. MRIS* (Our Regional MLS System) has just released January 2008 home sales stats for the MRIS coverage area on February 10, 2009. Once again because of its prime location to all in the DC area for access, commute, WMATA...sales of homes in Northern Virginia Fairfax VA leads the region in home sales easily with 790 homes in Fairfax, which was quite a bit lower in sales than the proceeding month of December which saw 1150 sales. That is always surprising because the average home prices in Fairfax are so much higher, but price trends are moving down even as mortgage interest rates decline to record lows. January sales saw an average price of $ 360,721 vs. $ 472,016 last January a drop of 23.58 % What is more interesting is that sales in January were lower than December 2008 which one would assume would have less sales during the holiday season.
