Throwing The F-Bomb At Children

My Not So Humble Opinion..and there is a good chance I am not alone!

Go ahead...read the title..its shocking but very true. See some people are really set on getting the last word in...but really the joke is on them. Go ahead throw the 1st amendment at me...but just remember one thing...its your legacy you are leaving on net..and if you have children..there might come a point when they start using computers...and the teacher says "google your dads name Joey!"..and it may not be a nice description instead..its the F-Bomb! What a hero and a moment that would never be forgotten.

I know I feel the steam coming out of your ears..so what..just throw the FBomb it will make you feel better!

This has nothing to do with being cool...hot or a prude..its a matter of respect.. Does it make me politically correct...nope not at all....I believe there is a time and place with everything in life..and everyone should not be included..the words we choose influence others including our youth! You may think its OK? We create the next generation...

With the way we walk and talk! People from all walks of life from all over the globe..are reading our blogs

Lets look at Activerain...anyone can jump on..no logging in required..and anyone can get on the site..even those that are minors..the funny thing..to some its not a big deal..but if you are a parent..a brother or sister..aunt or uncle or just trying to conduct business..are you really OK with what you are writing? And how would you feel if your daughter or nephew read what you wrote? Would you feel proud or if it was written word would you hide it under your matress? Just something to think about when you are exercising your rights!

You are absolutely right. People think they can say and do anything to children. Not realizing they are shaping our country's future leaders. What kind of leaders are you shaping??

I hope people aren't using the F-bomb on AR or any other site. There is a time and place for everything.

Well I would really hope that no one is letting kids use the internet unassisted or unsupervised. And randomly surfing the net would probably not be a good idea for kids. I know what your point is but really they shouldnt be there to begin with.

Midori, I bashed my thumb on the new hated Sentrilock with some clients little children at my elbow, eager to help open a door at the house I was showing. I came so very close! But it's not appropriate in front of children or adults.

Nate-its happening everywhere. Thanks for the pop up warning..I'm working on it..I've been trying to see if its one of my widgets! I thought it was fixed..

Shane-there are schools teaching our children how to use the computer..I just did a google search a few profiles came up..so if the teacher asked them to google dad...what do you think they would see...the point is it's not just about children its seems when you talk about children people start to think about what they are doing...I am no prude and I don't appreciate it mixed with real estate.

I understand. I guess I wasnt trying to say anything bad about the point you were trying to make. I think its a great point. Its crazy what some people say on here. I think there is a real problem with people understanding how Google even works. People say stuff all the time on the internet thinking this is just a private conversation and no one will read it. But you can read it. Anyone can read it. I just wrote that post about how people hide behind members posts thinking its private. Its most definately not. People get too cozy and start opening up and say all the wrong things thinking its private. I started on the internet a long time ago probably 10 years ago or more and if I had used my real name then I dont want to even know. I never use my real name on anything except when used professionally.

Professional is as professional does. I have to listen to it when it's coming from my clients, but I don't have to listen to/read it here. Thanks for bringing this up, Midori.

Midori.............anytime the bomb is dropped........well..............children should not be around...........now maybe, through paper thin walls they hear it midst other sounds........but.....well we all have strange childhood memories.................

as a rule of thumb, with Ms. Pat's beleaguered thumb in mind.............it just is not nice and this comes from a skilled bombardier...........

I always think twice before I press the submit button! Although the Fbomb has never been typed by MY hands before!

I had a smiliar discussion with someone earlier today on the subject, how the fact that once it's out there it's there forever. Personally I see no reason for it at all.

Midori, good reminder. This is social MEDIA. Everything you post has a life of its own and you'll never know where it might reappear in the future. If you wouldn't say it out loud in public, don't post it on Internet.

Shane-its horrible..what I have recently seen and I don't think its ok...but one day...the joke will be on those that think its cool..or I can do what I want..freedom of speech..until one day...when they want to do business with someone someone looks them up on the net!

Heather-I actually led a few associates to a post...that was incredible..but as they started reading more..they weren't to impressed...and these fine ladies...aren't prudes...or uptight...but they are ladies. Needless to say...I'll read others profiles and other blog posts before I do that again.

John-I am not saying we live in a perfect world or that I am perfect myself..kids..adults..should not be subjected to this unless they want to. Its very offensive to me..and I can assure you...I'm no prude..but there is a time and place for everything we do in life..should we post it online forever!

Tony and Darcy-I am not perfect by any means...and I get into enough trouble speaking myself..but what in the world would I benefit from splattering foul language all over the web...yes sex sells but I say..you sold out! :)

Why would one feel so comfortable in a public venue to use foul language? I venture to say if someone was as ignorant to do that then they probably do not have much business and certainly won't gain any as well. Never occurred to me to be anything but professional ... image is everything and out of respect to my family it wouldn't even cross my mind to use objectionable words. Just not me and I certainly wouldn't want my children to think it was OK as well. Your post opened my rose colored eyes. Glad you expressed yourself in a professional use of words!

Midori, Remember the days when a car phone was actualy installed in your car? I was able to listen to my messages hands free. In doing so one day, one of my new contruction customers left a message about his f.......marble being chipped around his f..... fireplace and my daugahter heard the whole thing. I told this to our project manager who was about 6'2" and 250 pounds. He said let me talk to him. He did and I got a voice mail apology but it made no difference to me because my daughter heard the whole thing. That young man has since had 2 kids...wonder if he remembers what happened?

Midori --- I certainly am on your same page. I have never seen the need for foul language. I was brought up to say "shoot" if I stumped my toe. I have tried to instill in my children and grandchildren the same.

Hi Midori! You are NOT being politically incorrect at ALL! The old saying, it takes a village to raise a child comes into play here--I don't want my college age boys using that word so, I certainly wouldn't want a young child to find their way to a comment or post that had that word in it--that would have to be the most embarrassing thing in the world! What if they were working in a computer lab at school and did that in front of the entire class? NOT cool AT all!

Sometimes I think we've gone WAY too far with this political corectness attitude anyway!

Hey--I'm in the adult group, & I don't appreciate hearing that word ever!!! Use it with someone who feels as I do, & you might just lose a client. I believe we can express ourselves with other more appropriate words.

Midori, I have had this post come up twice on a Google alert today so thought even if I am on vacation, I have to go read. All I can say is I have only said that word about twice my whole life, and my kids were like shocked in the privacy or our home. So definately, I agree. What is online stays online.

But, off line or online, I hate it being said.

I think I may know why you wrote this post if it something you saw here this week. I agree completely!

I have a favorite variant of the F-bomb... and my son has heard it... repeated it... and seems to have forgotten it. I think I was in my late teens before I heard my dad say it, though. And it was pointed at me... I probably deserved it.

I don't know if I want my son to find me saying it on Google, though...
