I just started to really get into this social networking and it is amazing the people you connect with I know some professionals say they don't see the value of social networks and are too busy to participate in them but frequent users argue that it makes great business sense to create a presence on-line where prospective home-buyers and sellers would be looking would love to hear some of your success stories
I've only recently began social networking and cannot give you a success story. But I'm giving it a good shot and will see what will happen.
Antoinette,
Great post and welcome to social networking. Are you active in facebook and twitter also? Thanks and Happy Valentine's Day!
I'm just new at this, and it's too soon for me to say whether it brings biz or not. It's interesting, though, and definitely is part of the 21st century, where the interrnet has erased geography and time.
Tony,
I'm active on facebook but not twitter what do you think about the twitter sight?
I belong to various social networking sites and they do work for you very effectively. Linkedin has an enormous population and networking capability even for the regular free subscription. You can upgrade to the next level for approximately $19.99 per month. Although , I haven't tried it for the real estate industry, it seems rather beneficial. You will most likely find friends who are a part of this social networking site! Best wishes in all your discoveries and endeavors!
Hi Antoinette. I think the different social networking sites all have positive aspects to them. But you have to play them right. What I mean by that is, I think some of them are more socially oriented and some are more business oriented. For instance, I find Facebook to be far more socially oriented than say Linked In or Plaxo. Facebook is where I show my personal side. Most of my connections there are friends, family, and acquaintances. That's not to say we haven't generated any business from Facebook, it's just that it's a bit awkward to market my business forcefully on such a site. Whereas Linked In and Plaxo are far more business oriented. On those sites I'm pretty much strictly business. I would feel unprofessional and akward being as casual on those sites as I am on Facebook.
I think if you approach them with that mindset you'll have sucess.
Best of luck.

I thought the same as you about Social Networking - but now I'm starting to reap rich rewards - referrals, contacts - from my SN "Friends." Heck, now, even the old timers are beginning to join in - and I believe we have just scratched the surface in the Social Network Evolutionary process.
The will increase in importance as a business generating tool, and a way to connect. Stick with them!

I've received 26 referrals since joining the rain. I love it...but I've built some awesome & stellar relationships as well....have at it!
Larry,
That is unbelievable how much time a week do you spend on the sites?
As I commented on another blog, I am new to ActiveRain but I am very impressed with the ease of use. I still can't figure out Facebook and I have been a member for over a year! Twitter is fun, but it seems only useful if you have a blog you can link to. I think now that I am blogging here I will be able to use Twitter more effectively.
Online is where it is at! I even catch the head honcho at our office eavesdropping on me sometimes when I am talking about my blogging and networking online. I keep telling him I will help him for a small nominal fee, LOL...
