Rut Ro -  Did You Hear That Thunk?

Warning:  Graphic Content Ahead.  Animal lovers and squeamish look away now!

Friday afternoon, I was on my way home.  I was feeling pretty good about myself because I had just donated blood.  This was the first time that I have donated in at least five years. I used to donate all the time, but after all of the poking and prodding I was getting in the Navy, I decided to take a break.

Anyway....back to the story at hand.  I drove under a bridge and I heard a thunk at the top of the car.  I looked in the rear view mirror and feathers were flying everywhere.  Mind you....I did not see a bird anywhere because it was dark under the bridge.  Oh well....things happen.

As I continued to drive, I heard a flapping noise on the top of the car.

OH NO!

Tell me that this bird is not still on the top of my car!  I slide back the rear sunroof cover and what do I see..........blood and feathers....not a pretty sight.

I pull off to the side of the road and get out...totally unprepared for the scene which unfolded before me.

This is what I saw.

A pigeon had been decapitated on the first cross member of the roof rack and was stuck under the second cross member....YUCK!!

Now I had to get this mess off my car.  Well I will spare you the details.

What's the life lesson?

Sometimes things happen. You can be going along minding your own business and something bad will happen to you.  Did I want to deal with the headless

bird on the top of my car?  NO!!   But I did.

When life throws you a curve ball, deal with the situation, learn from it and move on.

The bird is gone, the car has been washed and I am off to help my next client find a home of their dreams.

Everyone Have a Great Day

Make This YOUR Best Year Ever

Wow, your day ended a lot better than the bird's.  My son-in-law hit a buzzard last weekend and it made a mess of the grill of his truck.  Never know.

Ann,

It really was terrible.  Kevin, I went right to the car wash and I still had to get out a bucket and soap when I got home......

Kevin, I am sure that hitting a buzzard really made a mess.   My dad was a truck driver for  over 40 years.  He told me stories of the mess that dear  can make when you hit it.  I am just thankful that it didn't hit and break the windshield.

Have a good one

Leander,

Yikes! Luckily I've never had to deal with such a mess, so kudos to you for making the best of it!

Don't forget me if you learn of anyone moving to "The OC!"

Leander, at least you didn't have clients in the car with you, or following behind you in their car at the time.

Rich,

You are right.  How do you keep your cool when you have clients in the car and there are feathers and bird guts flying all over the place.......that would have been a tough one.

Have a great day

Great story. Do you remember when Dave Winfield killed a bird in Toronto. From Wikipedia...

On August 4, 1983, Winfield accidentally killed a seagull by throwing a ball at it while warming up before the fifth inning of a game at Toronto's Exhibition Stadium. He doffed his cap in mock sorrow, and fans responded by hurling obscenities and improvised missiles. After the game, he was brought to the Ontario Provincial Police station and arrested for cruelty to animals. He was released after posting a $500 bond. Yankee manager Billy Martin quipped, "It's the first time he's hit the cutoff man all season." Charges were dropped the following day.[7] For years afterward, Winfield's appearances in Toronto were greeted with loud choruses of boos until he became a fan favorite when he joined the Blue Jays in 1992.
