Can anyone answer this question I invited a fellow agent to join activerain and he said he went on the site and it was $49.00 a month either he was on a wrong site or does it have to do with being invited by someone? I re-invited him I have never known anyone getting charged for being on activerain. Since I have all you wonderful people reading my blog has anyone ever used Plaxo and how is that different from Activerain.

Hi Antoinette,

Nope, nada, zero, zilch...that is unless something has changed that I'm not aware of.

Plaxo is just a social networking site like Facebook and myspace or Linkedin.  I have never heard of Active rain charging $49.

I signed up recently and didn't pay for anything.  There must be some mistake.

I don't pay anything.

that's for a different version with publishable private blogs and other bells and whistles.

I can't help you with Plaxo. I am signed up for it but don't use it. As for ActiveRain, there is no charge for the basic membership but there are fees for the new Individual Blogs ($19) and Team Blogs ($79) features. I haven't seen anything for $49 per month though.

My first thought was maybe he landed on a .biz, .org, .info site or some other variation of the active rain name that has been registered by a scammer... but I tried and couldn't find any.

Note to Rich Jacobson, or Bob Stewart, you guys should hurry up and register those other name variations before someone takes them.

Nothing about a $49/month fee.

NOPE, NO MONTHLY FEE THAT I AM AWARE OF.  Although, Point 2 started out that way promising that they would never charge for standard members and are apparently now starting to do so to many of them...

Recently, a week ago, I invited 5 people or so, several had me help them sign up and log on.. no charges to anyone.  I can't imagine what you friend found?  It would be interesting to see the actual page he found.

I think he was lying to you and said that he wanted to join but it would cost him $49.00, or he went to another website like Point 2.  Standard sites are free for the first 6 months, Professional sites are approximately $49.00 per month and Premium sites are much more than $49.00.

No fees for membership. Never heard anything good about Plaxo...

Antoinette, I think we can enhance our blog for a fee, but what we do right now is for free.

One more thought:  After you send him the invitation, get together with him and walk him step by step with where to click, and how to create a profile.
