The local Sun Courier newspaper just reported that the bald eagle pair has returned to their nest in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park! This makes year three for this wonderful event and hopefully there will be a third “eaglet” in 2009! The Park takes this very seriously and actually makes sure there are no huge disturbances during this time, eg, gawkers, walkers, stopped cars, etc., because the eggs need to stay warm via constant attention from the parents.

How exciting! Somehow it makes me feel like things are looking up when I consider this huge event has happened three years in a row right down the street from where my family lives. Yeah, the economy could be way better, but bald eagles nesting down the street? I mean, we are constantly amazed at the different types of birds that our feeder attracts throughout the winter, but bald eagles are obviously in a league of their own. Wow!

Information from the Sun Courier, February 12, 2009.
