It really doesn't matter where you are to market yourself.  Many of us talk to people all the time about our business. In flying back from a recent trip to SoCal, I chatted with several people around me.  I was able to talk about staging in this market, gave advice on faucet upgrades, had a conversation about those slip-on palm fan blades, met someone who did custom websites... and exchanged cards with a Sacramento Realtor. All together, 6 cards out... Just by talking.

Where else can your sit for an hour with 75 people and have a captive audience? Not that I am a very captivating speaker :)) ... but I always position myself on an isle seat. Most people are interested in what you do and why you are on a plane. Striking up a conversation is an easy, as easy as just saying "Hi". In our "service oriented" business of Real Estate, we do have to market ourselves on a continual basis all the time. Whether we are at the supermarket, at the gas station, waiting in the dentist's office, or we are sitting on a plane... we need to continue to network and market ourselves.

Remember, it all starts with "Hi".  Happy marketing!

Love the little airplane...on you signature.  I am not surprized you found lots of nice people, nice people attract nice people, like a magnet.  We are lucky to have you in our world...missy.  Take care, it was good to see you, not enough time to chat.  Hugs.

Very catchy title Ms. LKP, you got me thinking of something else at first... you're a a networking genius - not matter where you go there is an opportunity to talk about what we do. Glad you landed safely ;-)

You never know who you'll meet and where! Be prepared! My children are always saying to me when I go into the grocery store, "please no talking to anyone, it takes longer to shop!" Hahahaha

Chatting on flights make the ride so much more fun and interesting, especially if you do not like to fly like me!  Nice post and as usual positive in nature.  It was so nice seeing you and networking at  the Stagers Appreciation Event last week.  I already made some of those contacts you told me about.  Thanks so much!

Maria... Thank you for stopping by, all we have to do is make ourselves approachable. I could have just buried my head into the magazines.

Terrylynn... so great to see you even for a short time. Wish I could have stayed for Annie's Mastermind group but had to get back. Hugs too.

I know, I have to be more aware of talking and handing out cards.  I've missed so many opportunites...but I don't want to sound like an infomercial.

Lori Kim ~ I'm always striking up conversations when I'm out and about.  Love that you had a "captive audience" on the plane! : )

Hi Lori, Happy Birthday!  You are so right.  In fact, I met my very first client at a used furniture shop just by striking up a conversation.

Cindy... Absolutely! Basically I feel that being friendly, honest, and show a passion for what I do far out weighs any sort of infomercial. No used car salesperson here ;)

Kathy... Hey where else can we have a captive audience... it is the perfect environment.

Great advice Lori!  It starts with "Hi" and usually they are the ones asking you questions.  Great networking.

Karen... Hey there you! I love what I do and I think it shows ;) Thanks for stoppin' by.

Lisa... That is too funny. I had a BF that commented on that same fact. Everywhere we went.. I talked to someone or knew someone. It wasn't always about staging though. Don't have him any more... next!

Cathy Lee... Great to see you too! I look forward to seeing how your resources are going ;)

Lori, who else is more "captive" than a planeful of bored or tense flyers? I'm sure the majority of the people who were near you were grateful to have something else to concentrate on than their magazines or how nervous they are. Way to put yourself out there, girl!  :)

We have opportunities to market ourselves everyday, doing everyday things.  I try to keep a stack of biz cards handy while I'm out shopping and running errands.  Learned it from my Mary Kay days.
