Good Tuesday Morning!—It may come as a complete surprise to you, but I did not post yesterday! I made a few comments—but no post. Medford didn’t post, nor did Carl, Harold, Fred, or even the imaginary Molly. Boomer doesn’t post (yet—I’ve been working on him). Since all our other characters are imaginary—they did not post either.
So just what does a Codger do if he doesn’t post? Whatever he wants! Some of us, I guess, sit in neat rocking chairs and watch the world go by—there’s some benefit in that, I have one and I DO rock! But that soon becomes boring.
On Monday, I started my day at the “Real World” café and enjoyed a sensible breakfast of oatmeal, whole-grain toast, and of course a mug of organically & shade-grown, Fair Trade, Sumatran Roast coffee, that fired up my remaining brain-synapses, and prepared me for the rest of the morning.
I stopped by “Sophie Jo’s” Antique shop—it is disturbing to note that I am older than most of what she displays! I made no purchases.
I then stopped by Boomer’s house, and took temporary custody of my step-dog Daisy. After we walked for an hour or so, I returned the long-legged beagle to her home. I asked Realtor®-Broker-Goddess Teresa, considering poor Boomer had to actually work today, if I might make use of his more-powerful-than-my-computer computer.
And then—then I got down to business. Starting with a little photo-shopping (I planned ahead, and brought my finger-drive with me heh-heh), combining photos taken last March after a snowstorm, and those taken in the past few days.
This first photo is of neighbor Lorraine’s home, showing why we so love it here. Snow is a beautiful phenomenon. Sure, it’s a royal pain in the kiester, but as with most real Minnesotans, I’d miss it. I was soo jealous of Denver’s snow while we got squat earlier this past winter!
This photo illustrates the disappearance of what many consider ugly new condos blocking our late autumn, winter and early spring view of the river. Those leaves perform a real service to those of us with discriminating taste!
While still at Boomer’s, I used his powerful computer to rework the cyber-maps. I was just not satisfied with that 1st map. Then home for lunch.
In the afternoon, I took a short road trip to see some friends in Owatonna, MN, about 60 miles south of St. Paul, returning home in time for dinner—and a few comments on the ‘Rain.
This fine, soon to be sunny Tuesday, I have returned from yet another sensible breakfast with the usual suspects, and have prepared yesterday’s efforts for posting:
This graphic is the redone overall map of the Codger’s corner of cyberspace. I believe it better represents what I had in mind. The Cyber-highways shown are based on actual US highways that once were the only way for interstate travel, and all three intersected (and sort of still do) in St. Paul: Cyber-US 10/US Highway 10 extended west to Seattle, WA. Cyber-US.US Highway 12 once extended west to Grays Harbor, WA, on the Pacific Ocean. Cyber US 61/US 61, once extended north into Canada. This new map reorganized the Cyber-Wood neighborhood, and added the Old Town neighborhood (where we cyber-old-timers live).
This next graphic shows downtown “Codger Corners” where you will find the really important downtown locations of our melodrama labeled.
Finally, the Old Town neighborhood with our respective cyber-homes labeled (this does not represent where our homes are in the real world).
I hope you managed to get through this over-long post without falling asleep! Enjoy, comment, come back, comment again tomorrow—as I probably will take yet another day off.
