Why I Love Working For My Broker!

By
Real Estate Agent with Century 21 Moline Realty 40022101

Some people say "Joslyn, you didn't even bother to look at other companies.  What were you thinking???"

I was thinking that I knew who I trusted, and knew I loved this office.

Some of you know, and some of you don't, that I started here as the receptionist.  I had interviewed for a position as a receptionist elsewhere, but didn't get hired.  An ex-broker had interviewed, and got the position.

When I started here, I wasn't sure how it was going to go.  Everyone watched everything I did, and didn't trust me a bit.  That faded with time.  I just watched and observed.  I had purchase my own house, but was amazed at the honesty and integrity in our office.  It definitely impressed me.

I know there are other ethical agents out there, and I'm not saying that anyone is NOT ethical.  I quickly found that it was an office who loved to laugh, was motivated, driven, and loved what they did.  My broker was EXTREMELY knowledgable, served on the ethics board for Minnesota, and is a great teacher.  He moved to Mora, bought the business, and started his real estate career, and was in the 100% club his first year in real estate.  He's so good at what he does, and is a great model.

The agents in the office spend time with me, discussing what they are going through, what they have gone through, and how to fix it.  They tell me what has worked for them in marketing, and are willing to help me out in any way.  They have been nothing but helpful, kind, and supportive.  It's great to know I have all this support.

We are like a family.  We have potlucks, fights, jokes, and all the other little things that bring families closer.  Agents bring their kids in sometimes.  I have brought my cat in and my dog at one point.  We share lunch, trips to class, and clients.  We work together so well, it's almost sickening.

What's really nice is that the community notices it.  They notice that we work together so well, are so good to one another and all the other agents in town.  They also notice that yeah, Joslyn might be a new agent, but look at all the support she has behind her.  She's not your typical new agent - she has seen a lot and been through all kinds of stuff through conversation and the other agents.

I love coming to work.  I'm not trying to say everyone should work here, or that we're the best and you're not, but RE/MAX Select has definitely been the best for me.  I don't regret it one bit.

You are very lucky.  I have had the great fortune to work in a few such offices.  Nice to see you don't take it for granted.

The first thing I look for everytime I enter a real estate office is the "office vibe". It's either there or it isn't. I hate walking into an office and it is cold and stiff, no one smiles or greets you as you walk through the door. I prefer a bubbly office that has a buzz. You know it is there the moment you walk through the door. Good for you that you found what you like right away. So many people fail to be happy where they work and it is just such a waste of energy to be so unhappy.

It's funny, one of my friends that I used to work in retail with just stopped by the office.  She still works for the company we worked for together.  We walked around town a little after showing her the office and my desk, and she's like "Wow, I wish I worked somewhere like where you do.  Everyone cares about you!  And it looks fun!"

Cool to hear that from outsiders.

Thanks Beth!  It's true.  What's super nice is that my fiance used to commute an hour and a half down to Scandia for work, but he took a position about two months ago with the Soil and Water Conservation District as a Vegetation Restoration Specialist, and now he's right in town!  It's wierd seeing him so much!  But he's almost like part of the family here now, too!!  Doesn't get any better than that!

I'm with you...Why if you are happy should you change? Next time one of these people ask you this, tell them "to go to the bar with you and pick up a new spouse. It doesn't matter if you are happy, you just said so yourself. Let us go get a new one" It has really shut up the people who tell me the same thing.

LOL - SO TRUE Todd!!!  No one is perfect, and just because it is the red white and blue company doesn't mean we're evil and bad.  Such silly tales!
