The White House

Do you want to live near The White House?

Imagine the President's motorcade being an everyday occurrence.  Catch glimpses of the Marine One helicopters as they take up from The White House lawn.  If you're a political junkie, a Barack Obama White House aide, or just want to be in the center of all the action, here's some news for you.

As of today, there are 60 homes in Washington D.C. on the market for sale within a 3/4 mile radius of The White House, priced from $134,900 to $1.15 million.  The average price to be within earshot of the President is $472,222.

3/4 mile from The White House

Expanding that circle to a one mile radius opens up a total of 281 available properties for sale in D.C., including a renovated home on Embassy Row suitable for a new embassy -- priced at a cool $14.9 million.

While I promise you that I'll provide you with the best service available to help you purchase your new home within walking distance of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, I can't promise you that you'll get an invite to Bowling with 'Bama on the private White House lanes.

I think I am 1.1 miles away - I see enough of Marine One and see enough Motorcades.  But - it IS cool to see.

naoma doriguzi Hey Brian - I am not sure if I would want to live that close to the white house everyday.  I do LOVE to go to the DC area!! That is definitely a wide range of home prices for someone to look at.

Brian, I have a listing that is just barely outside the circle and is cuter than kittens.  Walk to work at the White House!

Perhaps if you could arrange that if a buyer uses you to buy a home, you can arrange a weekly hoops game with the President.  Now that would be service! :-)

Hi Brian - cool map.  I love those new features of MRIS.

Yes, living that close to the White House and the Downtown area has its positive sides - you can walk to everything!  Or get on one of those bikes provided by DC - aren't they great and eco-friendly?  The downside is that the parking will be either very expensive or impossible to find if you own a car.  On the other hand - you really don't need a car if you live in DC - public transportation (Metro and busses) are great and if you need wheels for an out of town trip you can always use the ZipCar or FlexCar.
