Who knew Cliff Huxtable was a Stager?!?

By
Home Stager

I was trying to explain the merits of Staging the other day and remembered an old episode of The Cosby Show.  I loved the Huxtables! Anyway, Cliff (aka. Mr. Bill Cosby) was explaining to Vanessa's fiance, Dabnis, why he and Clair (aka. the great Philicia Rashad) had such a negative first impression of him.  Their first meeting of their future son-in-law was that of an older, non-college educated man.  Certainly not what they had expected for their daughter. Of course, as they got to know him they realized that he was a good person and good fit for their daughter.  Cliff explained to Dabnis that it was as if you took a delicious meal and presented it on a garbage can lid. Not very appealing even though the content was nice.  It's all in the presentation!

Isn't that what we all do when Staging a house for sale: make sure that we are presenting it in the best possible manner; one that will appeal to a broad range of buyers, and one that will make a good first impression.

Which bedroom would a Buyer envision as their child's room?

Kathy,

First impressions are everything and especially when selling a home or meeting someone for the first time!  Great analogy!

Today, at a meeting, I heard that in the first 6 seconds an opinon is formed when meeting someone.

I imagine that it's the same when looking at a home.

Every aspect of business is about presentation-the way we dress, our marketing material, treat our co-workers, fellow stagers.  Great post.  Great before and after photo.
