I'm "name dropping" . . .
I'll be hangin' with Senator Corker today for a couple of hours to pick his brain about what he thinks of the array of "solutions" we continue to see unfolding out of the Washington frenzied assault on the country's economic woes.
Well!
It's not exactly going to be just me and the Senator. There will be others there. This is a luncheon organized by our Local REALTOR associations.
I'm especially interested in the recent new initiative coming from the White House as described in this White house blog post http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/09/02/18/Help-for-homeowners/
You can't fault all those guys from trying.
I think their hearts are in the right place.
My gut tells me that the piece that might be missing is a bit of Leadership Amnesia . . . Forgetting that Leadership is not an "enabling" way that caters to entitlement theory.
Instead of being so worried about who "deserves" what . . . and thereby changing the rules and creating REQUIREMENTS . . . requirements that lenders do such and such - Refinance Loans at lower rates - Forgive debt - and then reward them by giving them money (incentives) from the Federal government (Which really is money out of YOUR pocket) . . . Can't we LEAD ourselves out of this mess?
Leadership implies TRAINING and modeling . . . to provide a bit of structure where structure is needed and coach folks into to creating their own systems for efficiently handling their affairs.
In my view, focusing on "Reducing Foreclosures" is akin to not seeing the forest for the trees. It's time to talk more and teach our citizens and our companies more efficient ways to transact business.
I believe the Federal government could develop an "army" of Motivational Coaches and Trainers armed with a sound MODEL for restructuring the chaos and a great curriculum . . . and send them on a mission throughout the Nation to EDUCATE People and Organizations. This would cost a fractional amount of money and have FAR greater results.
We see this working well at the local level. I'm looking at our Keller Williams Realty Nashville, TN Green hills Market Center and seeing that our Agent Leadership Counsel has risen to the challenge and come together for a very productive 2 day retreat from which they emerged as LEADERS resolutely determined to create a Real Estate office that EXCEEDS the expectations of our agents.

Sounds exhausting doesn't it?
Well... It's hard work, but I have noticed that EVERYONE in our office has MORE energy (not less) . . . and attendance at all of these learning opportunities is higher than ever . . . Why?
Because the associates are getting what they NEED when they "come to the well"
This is working well in our office ...
What could be so difficult about scaling it up to the level of the Federal Government to sift through the issues and opportunities the Economy is presenting our Leaders?
I know! I know!
THAT COULD NEVER WORK!
