Lower Fairfield county is certainly a wonderful place to live, play and raise a family. I know because I made the move 32 years ago.  We moved to Stamford.  After growing up on New York's Long Island, and living in several towns...I was ready for a new job and my bride and I thought we'd try exotic Connecticut. The home of I-95, the Greenwich Tolls, Mystic Seaport and maybe one Bagel bakery. It was like coming to a foreign country. On Long Island we had shopping malls and in Stamford we had the shops on Atlantic & Bedford Street (Which at that time half the city was being torn down for urban re-newal). There was one Polynesian Restaurant and the Chinese restaurant was take out only. Amazing.

Ah, but times have changed. The mall got built, the Libraries enlarged, Culture prevailed at the Palace Theatre and the Rich Forum became the place for cultural events. In Bridgeport Harbor Yard was built for baseball...Go Bluefish, and the Arena built for hockey, basketball and special events.

The Twin Rinks in Stamford joined other  skating venues and the Maritime Center in Norwalk became a wonderful place to learn along with the Bruce Museum in Greenwich and the Stamford Nature Center and The Stamford Historical Society.

Did I mention Bagels...indeed we've got great bakeries of every ethnicity now and dining that rivals any Manhattan eateries. We have clubs, music and as amazing for me to admit, we have quite a bustling downtown nightlife in Stamford with great live music and dancing.

Our schools keep getting better and better, and while I know many fine private schools exist as an option, my four kids have all gone through the Stamford public schools. One has his Masters degree and is now teaching at Stamford High, my Second got her BS and is working at Southern CT. State College, my third is graduating with a Masters from Rutgers next week, and my fourth just made honor roll at Rippowam Middle school.   Can't beat that.

I admit it wholeheartedly this is a great place to be and a safe one to boot.

Personally I couldn't have found a better place to establish a business, create a home, or raise a family.
