I had to look up "bedroom" community, when I saw the term in a Columbus Dispatch Article.
I "googled" What does bedroom community mean
I have heard the term "bedroom community" before... of course. I've sometimes wondered if I grew up in one. Or if what I grew up in was a suburb? Or a separate town that was close to a bigger city. The definitions I found in Google kinda told me what I already knew about what "bedroom community" means. Some said the same thing... some contradicted one another.... some said the suburbs are bedroom communities.
Congrats to a Licking County community for making the Top 10 List in BusinessWeek. The list is for the Best Affordable Suburbs in the US in 2009.
The Columbus Dispatch Article said "BusinessWeek dubbed the cash-strapped Licking County community the ninth-most-affordable suburb in the country."
BusinessWeek - Best Affordable Suburbs in the U.S. 2009.
I had seen another Columbus Dispatch article recently about the financial problems the Licking County community has now. That community is not in my market area, I work primarily on the north side of Franklin County and the south side of Delaware County. I have shown homes in that Licking County community in the past. I would refer anyone who approached me to a Real Living HER agent who works in that market, knows that market, NOW.
Thinking of communities out in the hinterlands* in Madison, Licking, Fairfield and even in Delaware County... trying to figure out which ones have jobs "out there" and which ones the residents are commuting into Columbus (or some of the other Columbus suburbs?) to their jobs.
* I had to look up hinterlands to see if it means what I think it means. We don't have a coast but I still think this definition will work. I mean "hinterlands" in only the nicest way:
"hinterland - The land immediately next to, and inland from, a coast; The rural territory surrounding an urban area, especially a port; A remote or undeveloped ..." from en.wiktionary.org/wiki/hinterland
"rural territory surrounding an urban area" is the definition that works for me. wiktionary does NOT have a definition for the term "bedroom community"
