Good morning all. I have read quite a bit lately about tenants and buyers having troubles due to finding out too late that the property they are working with is in foreclosure and nearing the Sheriff Sale.
This is not a perfect answer, but one option is to check the county court records if you have a concern.
In Franklin County Ohio (Columbus for the most part) the website is http://fcdcfcjs.co.franklin.oh.us/CaseInformationOnline/acceptDisclaimer?AnjR90Up3lxHNpHs1gVikYmxq2qf
You can type in the title holders name or, if you have a case number, search that way. You can find out when the case was filed as well as the status.
To find information about your county, Google Clerk of Courts and see if they have a portion of their website titled "Online Case Information".
Good luck.

This is a good idea. I wish our tax assessor's web site would provide more data. This would be a good way to provide this much-needed information to the people who need to know.
