Please BE SURE TO READ ALL OF THIS BLOG CAREFULLY. DO NOT SKIM. IT WILL BE WELL WORTH YOUR WHILE.
Not getting enough hits to your website these days. Here's a sure fire way to get higher recognition in the search engines.
A lot of website domain names give no clue that you're in the real estate business. e.g.... www.JaneDoe.com A domain name like this is great for personal name promotion, but may not get you far in search engine rankings. Other domain names give no clue of what you sell specifically or where you're located. e.g... www.GeorgeDoeSells.com Still, your personalized domain does mean a lot and you want to keep it.
You'll need to register another domain name for the search engines.
To get a good search engine listing your domain should have three elements.
- What city you service
- What you specialize in
- and something to indicate real estate.
Stay with me on this........
Let's suppose you're main business niche is selling luxury homes and that's where most of your clients come from. May I suggest registering a domain name that includes the words "Luxury Homes."
That's a good start, but you live in a specific area, or city. "Luxury Homes" are found in every city. You can further hone in on your search engine target market by adding your city name. Let's say.... SanDiegoLuxuryHomes.com
The domain name SanDiegoLuxuryHomes.com may be already taken.....so you add the single word "My" to create www.MySanDiegoLuxuryHomes.com or the word "Page"... www.SanDiegoLuxuryHomesPage.com.
Use come imagination to select an unimportant word to add to your redirector URL to change it slightly to a domain name that's not registered. Other words you can use at the beginning of a domain name besides "My" might be... "Our" or "The." If these are still taken add a word to the end... Such as "Page" or "Site." Play around with adding unimportant words until you have an untaken domain name.
Are you with me so far?
Anyone looking for SanDiego Luxury Homes will likely type those words into the search engine.
The search engines will pick up your registered "Keyword Rich" words, "SanDiego" "Luxury" "Homes."
There's no need for you to create a second website. If a potential client types in, or clicks on www.MySanDiegoHomes.com they'll be transferred automatically to www.JaneDoe.com Your Internet Service Provider or website hosting company can set this up for you. What could be more simple. You can pick up a new domain name for this purpose at GoDaddy.com for under $10. In fact you can register as many different "Keyword Rich" domain names as you choose and have them all redirect to your main website address.
Here's a tip. When you buy a new domain that is "*Keyword Rich" be sure to buy it for 10 years. Google will give you more credit if they know you're legitimate and not a fly by night spammer..
* Keyword Rich definition: Text content on a web page, web page meta data, or hyperlinks that contain a good quantity of relevant keywords for that page.
Print this page and take it to your Internet Service Provider or website hosting company...... Or email the page to them and ask for further clarification on how this idea will benefit you. This is not something you should think about...or take time to consider or hum and haw about. This is something you should do at your earliest to get the best possible search engine ranking.
www.YourName.com is ok for visual notice as in print or TailGateTags.....but worth nothing in search engine ranking. Ask your I.S.P or hosting company for other good ideas such as META TAGS etc. to increase your search engine presence.

I have heard that about the 10 years before. GODaddy offers 10 year payment but 1and1 does not.
