CKFD firefighters trainingThe weather today in Bremerton and Silverdale was absolutely gorgeous!  Sunny and warm, it was a real treat in Kitsap County, especially considering that it is February.

Like many other residents of Central Kitsap, the members of the Central Kitsap Fire Department took advantage of the weather, practicing some of their life-saving and fire-fighting skills at the Meadowdale Fire Station, CKFD Station 41.  The Meadowdale Fire Station has a three-story training tower and is home to one of eleven new fire engines in Central Kitsap.New CKFD fire truck

Oviously not when they are dealing with a fire or training exercise, but the stations around here are incredible for kids.  We have dropped by and they have let them climb on the trucks and see guys sliding down the pole (there is a station with a pole near here).  They want the kids to not be afraid of firement if they ever need to be carried out of a house by one.  I hope that never happens, but Garrett LOVES seeing the trucks and firefighters in action.

Lane, I am actually trying to set up a tour of our local fire station for my Kitsap Moms Meetup group so the kids can see the firefighters in their full firefighting gear, masks and all.  Climbing on the truck is optional!  :)

Courtney, I find that I get a LOT more done with the extra hours of light.  Sleep is definitely effected though.  You can tell by the dark circles under my eyes.

Climbing on the truck is NOT optional.  And btw, I was at the grocery store while the firefighters were collecting for something .  I kept noticing that the hot mommies were gettign invited to bring their kids to the station...  But they didn't invite me.  I was offended.
