Since most real estate agents do a lot of driving in conducting their business, I thought it would be good to remind EVERYONE to check your tire pressure in your cars.  The reason I thought of it is because I was out with a buyer this past week and they told me my tire looked a little low and when I checked it along with all of the others I WAS SHOCKED!  ALL of my tires were about half what they were supposed to be according to the sticker on the side of my car.  I have a newer 2007 Honda Accord and have been taking it to the dealer to get the oil changes and just assumed that they were also checking the tire pressure.  Well, you know what they say when you ASSume things.

This is not only about GAS MILEAGE, but is also more importantly about SAFETY!  Check your tire pressure today before your next road trip and you may be surprised at what you find...

Michael, thanks for the reminder.  We do forget sometimes how much we use our vehicle and it needs to have our attention.  What would we do without our vehicles?  Might be hard to pay the bills.

Hi Michael.  The unfortunate thing is that people tend to take better care of their cars then the houses they own.   Most states require auto inspections every year or two.  People will live 30 years in a house and never have a home inspection.   Often they are not aware of a problem until it creates a major inconvenience or even a disaster.   So after you check the air in your tires, have a qualified home inspector check your house.  It may be the best money you ever spent.

Thank you, I really needed that reminder.  I've been out of the area for a while and my battery was dead when I got back.  The tires weren't flat, but I should have checked the tire pressure.  I will take care of that on my way out in the morning.  There is a gas station at the corner.  We spend most of our time taking care of other people, and not enough time taking steps to take care of ourselves.

Thanks for the reminder.  That is another one of those things that we just forget to do.  I will check mine in the morning.  I got all new tires about 6 months ago and I haven't checked them since.

Hey, Michael. I thought I'd share with your readers what I do.

I've always been conscious of gas mileage since I bought my first car back in 1977. It was a 1973 Chevy Impala and got about five gallons per mile. Since I was in public relations position, I needed a clean car, and since I did a lot of driving, I needed to stretch maintenance and dollars as far as possible. So each week when I had my car washed, I also checked the tire pressure, the oil, the air filter, and the carburetor filter.

Here I am 32 years later and guess what I still do? Yep. Every Sunday I wash the car (or have it washed) and check the tire pressure. Filters and oil pressure aren't as critical anymore because there are all sorts of doohickeys on the car and manufacturer-recommended maintenance schedules for those things.

With good maintenance, I've always been able to exceed the EPA's mileage claims in my cars -- Impala, Nova, 442, Mustang, Trans Am, Maxima, Accord, Altima, Camry -- no exception.

Hi Michael - Thanks for the reminder.  Having good tire pressure is not only good for gas mileage but also for safety and we do understand that safety comes first.  I found that I had a tire that seemed to lose pressure by week's end (every week).  I eventually had it checked out and found I had picked up a nail at one of the homes I had shown.  We are always at risk for doing that especially if we are showing homes in new developments or places where there has been a lot of roof work.
