There is a great site called www.livemocha.com  It offers inter active lessons  and it is better than using language software. According to this site you can practise speaking with native speakers and receive feedback.

I checked out the site and these are the languages it offers : German,  French, Spanish ,Hindi, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Mandarin(Chinese).

It offers self guided lessons, online tutorials and practice scripts.

I would like to  learn some of the above languages but have not yet decided which one I should start with. Maybe I will wait till I am working with a client who speaks one of these languages .

Thanks for the link.  I have lost so much of my languages simply from the lack of having someone to practice with.  If I have someone to talk to it comes back but, I might have to brush up first.

Hi Gita, i have 14 clients from other countries right now...some have languages that very difficult to learn in a short time so I try to learn about their culture and make sure I don't do things that will offend them.  Thanks for the link I have been trying to learn Spanish.

This is cool.  We just started on the Rosetta Stone for homeshoolers and I'm excited to learn along with my kids.  We will definitely be looking for other options to practice.

Gita - cool. I have studied and can carry a conversation of few of the languages you mention, some I can understand pretty well but can remember how to speak much. I would love to learn mandarin. Languages have always come easy for me, so maybe I'll give it a try :). And I am a native Finnish speaker. ~Rita

Gary, Good luck with learning Spanish. Maybe I should start with Spanish .

Jeff, It is nice to learn along with kids . Kids can learn a language easily.

Patricia, I am sure you have a lot of opportunity to work with Indians in your area. You should learn a few sentences in Hindi.

Rita, This will give you an opportunity to practice your skills.

Pete, I have not yet tried it but it sounds good.
