Received a fresh start after bankruptcy and been credit worthy ever since? Home ownership is a great idea. Two years after bankruptcy, credit score is no longer negatively impacted by the bankruptcy filing. The first step towards home ownership is to contact mortgage lenders for a loan preapproval. It is best to receive more than one mortgage lender opinion to ensure receiving the best deal possible. Keep a copy of the bankruptcy discharge for the mortgage lenders who will most likely ask for it. Once preapproved, contact a Realtor to help handle the home buying process. Among other benefits of home ownership, home ownership can actually increase credit score when making regular monthly home payments. Bankruptcy questions? BankruptcyHome.com has answers!

Good information. I'm surprised how many people think that it will never happen again after a bankruptcy. Just getting them to tell you that's what's holding them back though is like pulling teeth. But once they say it out loud to you it's amazing to see how surprised they are when you start giving them the numbers of loan officers that can work with them.
