Lebanon MO donkey basketballUntil a few weeks ago, I had never heard of Donkey Basketball.

I know, I know, where have I been?

Putting together a post last week on free or nearly free activities in Lebanon Missouri, I realized Donkey Basketball was coming to Lebanon as a fundraising event. Donkey basketball? You mean real, live donkeys? people ride the donkeys? in the gym?

I had to see this!

Lebanon MO

I can assure you this was worth more than the $6 ticket price - joining the donkey's were students and business men and women from Lebanon. It was rather fun to see a few of our local bankers out there on the floor, trying to ride a donkey in the middle of a gym.

If you have the opportunity, donkey basketball is an inexpensive way to have a few laughs while raising money for a good cause.

If you're looking for a community fundraiser, this may be the one for you! There are a variety of companies out there, however, here in Lebanon MO they used Circle A Donkey Ball Company at Donkeyball.net

Debbie... Too funny. I have not been to a donkey basketball game since I was in high school. Funny seeing yellow jackets as that was the name of our high school team too...

Debbie: I have been to a few donkey basketball games...they are an absolute HOOT!! I don't know of anyone who doesn't think they're a blast...except maybe the donkeys!

Glad you enjoyed it!

That's too long of a time Michael to stay away from the Donkeys! :)

Kim - You're so right, I don't know how anyone could keep a straight face! I think even the donkeys had a good time - a few were rather stubborn and I think had a chuckle at the expense of the rider.

i dont think this is cute or funny or amusing at all. these poor beautiful animals look stressed out. the only Asses I see here are the people dragging their darling donkeys around and the Asses that are actually entertained by this. Stuff like this gives Missouri the bad name it has. Think of the animals, and dont make such ASSES of yourselves!!

Thanks for posting the video of donkey basketball. I'm a graduate of Lebanon, about 25 years ago. One of my best friends married Pat McGinnis, but I've lost touch. I still visit Lebanon from time to time to, but am amazed at how much it has changed over the years. I guess it makes me appreciate my small town in East Tennessee. We border Watts Bar Lake off the TN River and mountains 5 miles away. Our elementary school is researching donkey basketball for a fundraiser, and I found your website in the search. It was nice to see inside the YellowJacket gym again. It's been a long time.
