Happy Birthday to my Grandson - Nicky Hepp

Today is my grandson's birthday, Nicky is 10 years old. I didn't get to spend it with him because the family moved to Mississippi. My son-in-law, Dave is a Seabee stationed in Gulfport and getting ready to go to Afghanistan. Mississippi is a little too far from Mesquite for quick trips, so I missed out on Nicky's birthday.

I did send him a Walmart gift card for $100 and he had his eye on a new bike for $78 to replace the one that got run over by his aunt. He has been looking at that new bike for awhile. When my daughter and family took Nicky to Walmart today to get his new bike - he changed his mind.

Nicky did the math and decided to get a $50 bike for himself and spend the other $50 on a bike for his little sister, Erica. That way she could have a new bike for his birthday, too. What a kid - I am pretty proud of him!

Not too many children out there that want to buy a bike for there sister on their birthday. Hope he has a great one.

And my husband is a Vietnam Vet, 101st Airborne - he was over there at the same time you were. Virginia, what a generous heart Nicky has! It's a good thing he wasn't ON his bike when his aunt ran over it... But on the other hand, most likely he left it in a spot he wasn't supposed to (knowing kids!).

That's a pretty special fellow to buy a bike for his sister on his birthday. Looks like his mom and dad are raising a keeper.

And we have something in common. I don't get to see four of mine as much as I'd like to. One of our Son's is Career Marine. This beautiful family of mine is all the way in Pensacola :(

Virginia I just came across this blog when I searched grandson's birthdays. Therefore here is a late Happy Birthday to your grandson, Nicky. What a handsome young man and so caring to share the money you sent to spend half for his sister. Grandchildren are precious. Unfortunately I live 19 driving hours away from my 3 and 5 years grandsons. How I miss not being there for their special events.
