Roughly 100 Amish folks in Smyrna Maine make their way swiftyly to church by a variety of means.

amish riding, walking, running to church. Wagon looks a little one sided and loaded to capacity.

The source of living beside self sufficient farming is selling produce, producing storage buildings and being the main market for painted metal roofing and siding.

This image capture one May sunday evening close to 6:30 pm and this wagon appears to be the community taxi for the older congregation members. Industrious. God respectful.

   Journey to church.

Many of the Amish settlers came from Ohio, Pennsylvania and points west of Maine!

When I was looking for a puppy, I discovered the puppy mills in PA, many run by the Amish.  Since then, and despite the horrible event that anguished their community a year or so ago, I don't see a peaceful scene when viewing the photos.  Dogs are considered to be much like chickens- and the photos of stacked, overcrowded, filthy cages are horrible.  PA is one of the top states for this gruesome practice- hopefully, Maine has good animal protection laws!  DON'T BUY YOUR PUPPY FROM A PUPPY MILL- they need to be shut down.
