A Homeowner's Fur Children - and How to Honor Them

I always enjoy meeting homeowners' "fur children". Sometimes we have to be very direct with these owners, reminding them that not everyone is fond of pets. But when doing this, I attempt to honor their pets at the same time. It builds the relationship and trust, plus I always have fun doing a mini photo shoot of their precious pals.

Here are a few examples:

Dewey (and his incredible stretch):

OZ - whose tail just kept finding its way into our "AFTER" pictures:

And last but not least, Miss Lilly II, a North Carolina charmer, one of three pets belonging to my cousin and her husband:

Many times pets are like children. My dog certainly is. It is nice that you respect your clients' pets and pay attention to them. The mini photo shoot is a nice touch!

By the way, have you been away from AR lately? I haven't seen you around on the staging blogs... Maybe I've just missed them. Nice to see you again!

Hi Nancy,

I have been away from AR - holidays, trip to east coast, illness, and just shifting into hyper marketing gear to generate business. I think there may be others like me who have been doing their best to keep from getting discouraged, but have gotten bogged down temporarily and strayed away from AR.

Cuter than cute! I don't have a pet, so I get my "pet fix" from friends and family. But seeing these pictures makes me want to go get one! These little guys look like they are well loved.

Janis- I too agree that this is a neat idea, especially for those who REALLY love their pets. I like pets too, but I have to remind them that not everyone does. Build the trust first and you will earn the clients respect when you are direct and honest about the pets.
